Not even kidding, I had a flat tire and the guy from the company rolled up looking pretty close to this. I almost peed my pants. He saw my reaction and I can tell you he was one of the kindest people I have ever encountered. He said you should see people’s reaction when I have to change tires at night.I am grateful the company gave him a job and a chance. He turned his life around and was doing something for his kids. I gave him the fattest tip and I’m truly blessed that we had that encounter. I hope this guy stays on the right track, too!

My first experience with gangs was working in a hospital and having a patient come in with severe trauma from a motorcycle accident. He looked much like this guy, tattooed from head to toe with his gang numbers and multiple scars from stabbings and gun shots. The guy didn't make it and when we called the family to tell them he was dying his mother's reply was "he brought this upon himself with the life he was living", no one showed up through his dying process. I ended up sitting with him after my shift was over until he passed. In the end, I didn't care what he had done in his life I just wanted him to know someone cared for him regardless. My best to Baldacci, it sounds like he has people who love him and that's what matters ❤️

I would agree but I believe he has evolved and just wants to have a different life now. When you look at age the crime rate drops drastically as humans get older. So people under 26 don't have the part of their brain 🧠 that processes consequence as it relates to yourself and others developed. They also have the most testosterone and the most hormones running through their body before their brain is developed at 26. This population commit large majority of the crime and make the most poor choices. Forget about missing fathers or abusive homes as a child. After hormones start balancing out and their brain is developed fully they learn how to be make thought out choices verse rash quick decisions in an emotional state. At this point humans are ready for a chance to do the right thing but unfortunately society doesn't see their complete freedom being stripped away from them as punishment. We as a society say once you go to jail and serve your time you have allotted for the pain you've got society. It's supposed to be over at that point but these people are punished for the rest of their lives. If this punishment includes stripping them of their ability to survive that's when they commit more crime. But it's not because they're inherently bad it's that we don't forgive well or trust as a humans nor do we honor our promise that the time served is enough.

When you brought up him traveling or going other places, you realize that his entire world has been a small little neighborhood in California. A couple blocks has been his entire existence. That’s crazy. He’s lived and almost died for those couple of blocks. I think you’re absolutely right. I think had he traveled even a little bit, it would’ve put things in perspective for him, and made him realize that fighting so hard for those couple of blocks, friends dying for those couple of blocks, is just so not worth it when you’ve seen how much more is out there in the world.

I live pretty close to the area hes from and sometimes work in warehouses bin Florence. if you have ever been there you'd understand why he never left. Besides it being extremely poor, that whole side of LA is a literal battle ground. To even go to the corner sometimes of the day to night is to dangerous even for gang members and especially police. There are few places in LA that police wont go and his neighborhood is one of those places. I do still agree with you though, if he had a chance to even make just make it out of the city, have a normal teenaged experience at the beach or something in a place where he doesn't know anyone and they don't know him. But, and this is especially true for places in LA or any neighborhood filled with really heavy gang activity, you are a product of your environment, on average.

You’re absolutely a product of what you know and what you’re surrounded by. If that’s gang activity and violence, one can only expect the people from there to be violent gang members. And in most cases it’s the only way to survive those areas. It’s just a unique situation where what’s helping them to survive is also almost always there inevitable death.

Spent the first seven years of my career teaching Florencia 13 gangbangers in Huntington Park, Ca. They were middle schoolers and spent the better part of the day trying to keep their pants up. But as tough as they wanted you to believe they were, most of them were just babies trying to fit in. Then I moved to a high school and stayed in touch with two who went in different directions. One is now a Highway Patrol officer. The other was murdered by his cousin at the direction of a rival gang. To this day, I feel more affection than fear for these lost souls.

He liked my cars so I had mentioned I would be flying to Vegas for the lowrider super show and offered to give him and his buddy Jon some free tickets . Him and Jon drove from LA to meet me in Vegas for the weekend, had a really good time. This guy is the perfect example of “ you can’t judge a book by its cover 💯” . Needless to say his looks got us ALOT of attention, negative and positive ! But at the end of the day this dude has hustled to get where he is with his music, started from nothing and is where he is today! Much RESPECT to Baldacci 💯. Keep doing what your doing brother 🙏🏼

Such a good interview. It's definitely a miracle that he survived being shot and the subsequent stroke. I've known gang members who were paralyzed from the neck down and had to breath through ventilation. It's extremely sad to see someone's life wasted like that. Only if he would have noticed from a young age that his Grandfather was a True Man , maybe he would of wanted a different life for himself. I've lived a very sheltered life and I started watching SWU to try to understand drug addiction because I have a loved one who has gotten into that lifestyle. I am blown away! I've learned things that I didn't know existed. The biggest thing I've learned is that everyone has a story and that we're all just people who love their families, have hopes and dreams and are just trying to survive. I now have so much compassion for people who I didn't understand before.

I went to a probation camp when I was a teenager in Mira Loma, Palmdale. When I was 24 I went to the county jail and saw a gang member I did time with in the camp and he had told me everyone that I knew and he knew were all dead now. I'll never forget that day he told me that. Sad. Praying for all gang members.🙏🙏🙏

Parents, please raise your daughters to believe in themselves so they don’t stay in a situation like this gentleman’s mother. He mentioned she was the only one in the family not involved in crime, working two legit jobs trying to support everyone. She probably prays and cries every day that her kids and husband would change. She worries every second of her life about losing them to violence. Damn, she could’ve gotten out of that life or had the confidence and self-worth to not get involved in the first place. This man is smart but an unfortunate product of a culture of violence, inequality, and brokenness. His mother had little chance to compete with shadow of his absent father and the gang culture that he enveloped his family in. She got trapped. Martyrdom is a shitty, outdated look.

The girls I did know either had a father/brother/child's father in the life/in jail/dead and had to deal with the emotional, mental and financial aspects of it, suffered from addiction as a product of being in the life/dating someone in the life(dealers), ended up being a street worker with a pimp who was in the life or was desperately trying to better their life to get away from it. My sample size is small, and like I said, that is just what I've seen. If you have seen/lived differently, I'm all for hearing your side.
