Earlier today, I learned my dearest friend is dying of a rare disease. Hearing her tell me this shattered me with a totality I didn't know was possible. We should have been together, but I was too stupid and young to be who I could have been. Instead, I ran west to chase my foolish, vapid dreams in vain, when everything worth anything was right there in her, in front of me. I loved her then, I've loved her since, and I love her still. And now it's too late. There's one person out there for each of us. She was mine, I was hers. If you find it, hold on tight, with all you have while there's still time.
