Loving the Maceo Parker sample, I saw Guru twice in Manchester, UK when I was a student. Saw Maceo too. Loads of Jazz musicians came through the city when I was there, McCoy Tyner, Roy Ayers, Courtney Pine, Donald Byrd - he signed a Red Garland LP he played on for me at a Jazzmatazz gig. I used to play drums in a Jazz club where local rappers would join in with Jazz musicians. The 90s were good times for live music. RIP Keith Elam. Respect to DJ Premier. Peace from south Wales.

Rip to you my man, no one will ever understand just how much this group changed hip hop culture, I didn’t really like them cause they had that New York boom bap style, thought it was stupid, but being young , white and from the west coast I liked big daddy ,kool g rap, kool moe Dee, Roxanne Shante, biz markie, then my friend Gave me the album “enter the stage”, who’s gonna take the weight “, was so original, my metal head friends just looked at me like I had mental issues, but I knew this was real hip hop and what he was talking about. East New York has been a huge impact on music . Sean price is another example of what that place produced
