Further to the point you mentioned about today's scientists commenting about origin of river Ganga and about snow on moon. In Maharashtra after arti to Guru Dattatreya or other avtars of Dattatreya (Sai baba, Akkalkot Swami Maharaj, Narshimha Saraswati and Shripad Shrivallabh) we do jaijaikaar saying "anatakoti brammhand nayak ki jai" . Which means our sages already knew that there is no single universe out there. We already know there are anatakoti, infinite number of brahmandas. And scientists in nasa talk about multiverses these days.
