2012-2015 was an absurd time period where you would basically see Romani people everywhere 27/7. They were always part of the landscape but that was something else : they were EVERYWHERE. Socialist President Hollande basically told them that they were welcome, so we had to endure these folks and the criminality and inconveniences that comes with them ( smell ). You could be hanging out in Paris or everywhere else in France ( even in the smallest towns ) and you would see dozens of them with their kids doing their things like begging or straight up annoying people, what's more, they would actually set up their third world slums within cities with the benediction of local socialist officials. Then for some reason, they completely disappeared with the first 2020 lockdown and never came back. That was the most bizarre thing. Like, I was in Paris a few months ago and I couldn't even spot one, even though they were always part of the landscape. Extremely strange. Here i used my ATM debit card to buy gas. I even went inside the store. My card was used to buy $1,000 worth of jewelry in New York city. I'm here in California! I got a new card.
