The foxes are critical because they have a double effect -- (1) they multiply your LOWEST scoring area, which means you have to score high in all areas, and (2) the number of foxes itself acts as the multiplier, and because there is only one fox available in each area, that also means that it's necessary to score well in multiple areas, to reach the foxes (which are a fair distance down the track in the green, purple and orange areas). Dave won the game largely because he scored 87 points from the foxes, i.e. his lowest scoring area was 29 multiplied by 3 foxes. Each fox was worth 29 further points, which is effectively the equivalent of scoring an ENTIRE additional area.

Great instruction guys, I think this game gets bigger and bigger each time I play it, I play the app some times and it's a great smart little dice game, the bonus features are very fun to get and on some games you can get a pretty high score, mine is almost 200.

Susan, the sequel to this, Doppelt So Clever is really awesome. It's the kind of the same but entirely different. I also really enjoy Qwixx, Noch Mal, Knister (Wurfel Bingo), Dizzle, Let's Make a Bus Route and many of the designs of Hisashi Hiyashi. There are lots of new great designs in the roll/flip & write. Thanks for the kind words and for watching. -Lincoln

Man, Nikki got bad advice from you guys in her last round. First role she should have taken the white one for blue and work for the blue with 4 pips which would have gotten her a 5 in blue to start a beautiful chain reaction all the way to orange.... 😄
@davidarnott60856 жыл бұрын
Marco, if she had a +1 left, then I agree, that risk would have been worth it. But without one, even if she gets the blue 5 on her next roll, she can complete the yellow row that gives her the orange 4 (doubled), but her yellow foxes are still only worth 10. Now, looking at the video again, after-the-fact, maybe her +1 on my turn should have been on my orange 6 for 12 points... that would have got her one closer to getting that yellow. But that's part of the decisions here - because getting the green fox instead means you don't have to worry about green, which isn't unrestricted like orange. In truth, there's an argument to be made for just saving that +1 and waiting.

At 41:35 shouldn't Dave used his +1 on the purple 6 again? That would have given him another +1 (so that's basically a free move) and it would keep his purple line resetted, but advanced.

1:17:00 Is Lincoln discussing the 58:35 decision there? I've never played the game so I have to be missing something there. It was even pointed that blue 2 gives him orange 5 there, which would get him the fox as well. This would mean +7 points from blue, right? Plus +21 from foxes and -1 from orange being 5 and not 6. So in total +27 for final score of 251, which beats Dave's 250 by one point. That would have been great TV... but again I have never played this game so I must be missing something.
@Endeva093 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure where your getting the “+7 blue” from?
@gejyspa6 жыл бұрын
If you use white as blue, does it add to the real blue, or does it just double its own value?
@boardgamegeek6 жыл бұрын
You still add the white and blue dice to determine which number to cross out. -WEM
@tiagomarques98226 жыл бұрын
gejyspa Just imagine that if your chosen color is blue you always add the white and blue dice; it doesn’t matter if the chosen color is blue because you chose the blue die or because you chose blue when picking the white die.

If you use white as blue it makes the blue dice count as white.

What happens if the ACTIVE player has no more dice to use? Does it count like a roll and he rolls again all the dice?
@Endeva093 жыл бұрын
You can’t really get into that position unless you deliberately misplay, for example on your first roll if you rolled 1 1 1 2 2 6 and you used the 6 then that’s it, you’ve used up your turns dice.
@Endeva093 жыл бұрын

@@Endeva09 I mean something different: in one of the last turn, if at the second roll I get only dice that I can’t use because I have already put an X on the square they show, what happens? Do I have to re-roll all the dice? Forgive my english...
@leapfish292 жыл бұрын
@@agocor83 Yes, for example, if, on your first roll you played the orange die and then on your second roll you could not play a die to your score sheet (and had no re-roll bonus available) you would lose the benefit of that roll and just continue on with your third and final roll.

@boardgamegeek6 жыл бұрын
Jagdish, this is something I want Dave to do to show how the game works for the audience and the people playing. With this game in particular, Dave has fantastic insight because he has played it so many times. He also is just faster than most at seeing strategies in a game. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
@MarkWardReacts6 жыл бұрын
There is a balance to be had though for the viewers... sometimes it just seems a little bit invasive to the audience. I really love Dave, so it's not really a criticism of him, and if he's been directed to do it then I guess that's your call as the producer of the video.

Mark pretty much said what I wanted to say. In addition, i really appreciate this channel and the effort you all put in to produce such entertaining content.

BoardGameGeek It’s fine when Dave wants to offer advice where other players can use it. But over and over he jumps in before they even have a chance to say what they’re thinking. Everyone else can verbalize for the audience as well as Dave can, so he should give them a chance first. This comes across as super alpha gamer otherwise. But, I love Dave and the show. Keep it up!

The camerawork on this video is FAR below your normal production value. most of the time (through 24 minutes) half or more of the dice are off screen. It's a shame, you're normally VERY good about showing the dice rolls/cards played.
