This was the boss that cemented the importance of fragments for me. lol went in with none at first and got my teeth kicked in. Came back with a few boosts, destroyed him.

I actually destroyed him without fragments. He was pretty easy, parried him to oblivion.

Fragments are why the starter area is awful, you shouldn't have to collect 3 m&ms to be able to play the game

The attention to detail is wonderful. The heavy roll at the end (I had to backtrack to the base game for a talisman to wear that armor…) the “weak foe” comment the killing him with jump attack the representing the crossbow as a machine gun. Bravo sir

This guy really humbled me to start when I had very few Scadu Frags. Came back and tried again later and he still wrecked me, he gives so much hitstun. But then I realized I just wasn't using the right weapon for the job. My usual dual daggers wasn't cutting it at all, he just would not react to hits whatsoever because of his armor. So I switched to my Guardian Swordspear, and two-handed it for good measure. That did the trick! Now I was the one stunlocking him, and he went down soooo much easier. Always gotta pick the right tool for the job.

I found that a lot of these mausoleums respond well to a good Parry tool. I genuinely enjoyed getting my butt kicked while learning the timings for the new stuff, which translated to pvp, at least a little.

ESPECIALLY in this DLC...lol on my max NG guy I think I respec'd 5 times bc each boss has very different strengths and weaknesses, and I like to see big damage numbers.

It's not just the tools though. You can beat him with anything when you get his moveset down, since he leaves himself open after every volley of bolts, and after every jump attack

This mini boss giving you one of the best DLC armors after beating him is worth however many attempts it takes. Also, love the common theme of beings in this universe going about their everyday lives until you show up, and then they just want to destroy you.

What's so good about it? It's extremely heavy for the damage negation it offers , the poise isn't significantly better than other armor sets with the same weight and it has no other special properties that I know of.

@@Weerknuffelbeer It's almost as defensive as the Lionel set ot Bull Goat armor, but lighter, and actually looks cool. If you're rocking the stats to do a heavy set anyway, it's one of the best options.

I love that Gaol Knight. Kicked my teeth in, and gave me the best drip in the game, hands down. His sword was my go-to for a while. No status, no gimmicks, no split damage, it just hits REALLY hard.

A consistent issue in From's games is unfortunately how lighting affects enemies and objects differently. It's especially pronounced with the cage hollows in DS3, but also how the 'ambushing' grave birds still have ghost flame coming from them isn't exactly subtle..

It's less an issue and more them making it so you can see it coming if you're paying close attention to the details and not rushing through. Something all of us have been caught by. Frequently.

Solitude armor set is awesome! Glad the DLC gave us a better alternative to the Night’s Cavalry set when it comes to black armor. I like using the greaves and gauntlets from it with the bandit mask and confessor armor. Looks like an assassin/merc outfit and it reaches well over 51 poise too!

Interesting to see how different people struggle with different bosses, I suppose from how I already fought Gael in DS3 it was super clear to me that if u simply run to the side u easily avoid all of the bolts, took me like 2 attempts - but then I struggled a lot more in bosses where others had an easy time with
