​​@@SMT-ks8yp Brother just forgot Midir LMAO I doubt they didn't do it because they were incapable of it, it's more likely they didn't do it because they didn't want to. Bayle is specifically a dragon without wings that sits atop a dreadful mountain, recovering from his wounds and eating the heart of everyone that challenges him. He's more a Dracula than a Jason if you know what I mean. The surprise of phase 2 hinges on the revelation of his wings, more than likely achieved through dragon communion, so it would take away from the impact if he was just flying around and harassing the player like Midir or Kalameet. Besides, the parallel they were trying to invoke between Igon and Bayle - as in, Ahab and the White Whale - would be completely moot if Bayle was an active pursuer. A good part of the point of that book is that Ahab is the pursuer, not the Whale, just like Igon is the one obsessed with Bayle, not the other way around.

Bayle is without a doubt has the most badass lore written for dragons in the soulsborne series.

ER dragons in general are pretty badass and have some awesome lore. Scales made of stone, red lightning, taking humanoid forms to bang humans and teaching them to wield lightning too, befriending some of the biggest badasses in the Lands Between, a war between subspecies, and using humans to fight that war by making them eat the hearts of the drakes. And that's not even getting into the Bayle-vs-Placidusax incident. I wish they were more fun to fight, because ER's dragons and their lore are kickass. They might even be among my favorite depictions of western-style dragons in fiction.
