In my opinion, 1969 was the pinnacle of automotive style; certainly for American automakers. For some muscle cars, this was the year they became legends. The Camaro, the Impala, the Cougar, the Mustang, the GTO, the Challenger... the list goes on.

I came upon this video by accident and just had to watch it. My Dad bought a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 brand new and had to sell it in 1984 due to hard times. After his death in 1995, I decided to track it down, and I bought it back. Then, in 2004 I gave it to my son for his 25th birthday. He still has it and he loves and babies that car. It's a real tribute to his grandfather. My Dad's is a 428 Ramjet with the shaker hood in Candy Apple red. A real beauty. I still had the window sticker, build sheet, original sale paperwork and even the leather key case from the dealer that my Dad used. All passed down to my son. I wonder how many of these are still on the road, or possibly even in junkyards.

After the original OEM tires wore out we went with 235/70R- 15" radials on rear and 215/70R 14 on front. We also had the fold down rear seat option. Cost brand new in 69 was right around $2,800

Are you high? Roadkill wasn’t ‘sold’ to a company, it’s been a product of that company since day one. Alphabet inc. (google) paid TEN (motortrend, hot rod etc) to produce content for KZbin. Mike and Dave where TEN employees from Hot Rod magazine. Once KZbin became huge Alphabet stopped paying extra to channels like motortrend. So TEN moved their intellectual property to their own website. Where you can either pay to watch the latest episodes without ads or watch the older ones for free with ads
@PubstarHero6 жыл бұрын

Thats cos you dont understand why all cars shape is similar. New cars are much safer to be even run over by. The bubble rounded curves not sharp edges. All wipers and stuff placed lower so you dont get flesh ripped off. But mostly its for cars hitting each other. Old car bonnet crumples engine pushes into the footwell steering collum through ribs. But the bubble car is all crumple zone. A front impact carries the shock up the wings pillars down the roof all protecting the people so much better. Remember the motorbikes front number plate? How many people got split by those. Hood ornaments impaling people at just 10mph. Cool car DUMB DESIGNS. This is the future stupid deaths gave us.

I wish there was a use for those old oil can spouts, i bought a few tote boxes from a speed shop after the owner shifted for his last time, and had a bunch inside. maybe weld 'em into lawn art. I can say from experience, those 1969 gas tanks work in 1967 Mustangs, you lose an inch of trunk space but gain capacity.
@Ratfunk02 Жыл бұрын
I have a '67 390 GTA Fastback that i paid $1200 for 30 years ago. I never liked the 69s , bigger heavier, ugly tail end. To each his own and sometimes I wish for AC but roll down the windows and listen to the rumble makes it worth the sweat. Nice to see this one running.
@albertgaspar627 Жыл бұрын
@@Ratfunk02 That's a nice purchase (I have a 1967 convert, interior/exterior decor group, honey gold, original 289 3 speed but someone put in a 351W with headers and a hurst shifted toploader--pretty much 1970's fuel economy technology). I wish Ford had done more with the 390 to compete with Chevy's 396. that rat was the LS1 of its day, easy to get 450 hp out of. Ford did some effort in 1961 to do a tripower 390 with 401 hp. but Ford wanted people to step up and order a 427. The 1969 and older models did get bigger, which gives some room for a big block (I also have a 1986 GT, there's fun with small blocks when the car is light).I will say, AC is nice :) I have a 1968 Olds 442, stripper model (except power steering and the THM400) with black interior and vinyl top and I live on the coast, so if you get air moving it's not a hot blast of dry heat like in say Nevada...but on a long drive the wind noise gets to you (the flipper vent window doesn't do enough). One day that will get AC, a new unit that takes up less weight.

Why do cars like this go to the scrap pile??????
@04dram047 жыл бұрын
I dont understand how it was overlooked for 30 years. Seeing that Mach1 badge is like striking gold
@Scrubworks7 жыл бұрын
Every now-desirable classic car was once a second hand ordinary car. 37 years ago would have been 1980. This car wouldn't have been so special back then, and probably had some problem that the current owner wasn't willing to pay to fix, so it ended up in the yard.

for real why was it there to begin with it had no actual defects we could see that would have been bad enough to junk it when it was in its prime
@jaydunbar75386 жыл бұрын
@@hauldr because it was a 10 year old used car, meaning it was junk. It wasn't a collectors car yet it was the type of car you would see in a demolition derby.

Hi guys . I am an Iranian and really extreme in american muscles rebuild and restoring . but spare parts are going to be rare day by day here and this enjoyable job became so hard as due a f...ing dictator and fascist government that just try to fight against all over the world . i have some classics like: 1979 Camaro type LT - 1972 Formula fire bird - 1972 Chrysler imperial De baron - 1978 CJ7 Renegade and 1972 fastback Mustang 302 . I must be careful because when ever i will take one of them out it may be a problem ! probably one of their dogs ask me : is here America ? what is you riding are ? this is so clear that you cant realize us . what ever make someones happy will be forbidden even a beautiful American car but insiders sons are free along last model Porsches - Maseratis - Mercedes's-Aston martins ...by embezzle . Yes friends , V R in mullahs cage as hostages ! God bless you all and America !

Really American muscle car fan. Nice to know the admiration for these beautiful machines knows no bounds.
@noahholliday97615 жыл бұрын
It's nice to know that the love for these classics is as strong elsewhere throughout the world, even in countries where the governments are anti American. I wish there was a way to help you with your goals aquiring parts, but I don't know how receiving packages from the U.S. would go for you. I respect your willingness to take risks in fulfilling your passions. I one day hope to find a video of you burning the rubber off some tires in your classics! Best of luck to you, and God bless you as well.

darren reichelt I think they should atleast weld the floor and some other major rust holes, put a proper exhaust on it, rebuild the engine (new gaskets and bearings) and fix all the lights and the power steering and power brakes... I really want to see this car on the road... maybe even for a roadtrip! I think this might be the most worth preserving car in their roadkill collection...

@isaacroebuck95146 жыл бұрын
The true test of a car's design is not whether it looks good all polished up out on the front line. But whether it can still look good 50 years later, rusted out, beaten down, and covered in a half century's worth of grime. If your design can do that, you've got a legend.
