Cool rig, I got an 87 yj with a 4.8 vortech, I been so obsessed with it, it's like sickness. But I love to see other peoples rigs and the ideas they come up with, I also like the fact that you didn't just buy all high dollar stuff, you engineered some things as well, really nice work 🤘

I had the Warn 8274 on my 65' Fj40 great winch! problem was it disturbed the air flow into the radiator causing the engine to run warm at road speed. I always suspected it was the winch but tried bigger multi row aluminum radiators first, bigger electric fans with no improvement. I finally took the winch off while working on the steering and was on a test run and about 110F air temp (Central CA.) and look at that 180f normal engine temp instead of pushing 200+ so I purchased a Mile marker lower profile winch problem solved!
@sweeneyoffroad
@sweeneyoffroad Жыл бұрын
Yeah these winches are notorious for that. I recessed this one between my frame rails and it seems to be doing well. I love those old FJ40s!

Very inspiring YJ build. I have a 95 YJ I am building for over landing, and I am looking at doing a double D dash with a heater and possibly JeepAir down the road. What are the technology components that you installed on the dash? All my original gauges are still working, but it may make sense to go with your solution.
@sweeneyoffroad
@sweeneyoffroad Жыл бұрын
I actually had a beautiful stock YJ dash, but after doing the LS swap it just made sense to go with a Holley dash instead of independently wiring all of the Jeep gauges. That and I wanted to use a double din stereo which is difficult to do with the stock dash.

@@scottpilkinton9518 The family bar is what’s holding up the top. I think it came on YJs 91-95. If you swapped a family bar with your sport bar, you would be able to run this style of soft top

@@sweeneyoffroad That's understandable. I don't know much about those engines so I thought maybe there was something specific about your choice. I'm sure it has more power than the 2.5 or 4.0 though haha. Thanks a lot for the response, I'll have to look into that, it looks clean
@sweeneyoffroad

@@diktat6558 The LS platform is definitely the most swapped engine in the US. It’s super reliable and has good power in stock form. They’re everywhere also. I get about 500 hp in this one vs about 180 in my old 4.0. All that said, I absolutely love the 4.0. It might still be my favorite engine.
