you are talking about the exact problem i have with my garage door opener. I found out what the reason was. when i saw your video i was amazed. Great video. thank you. one thing i found out is if you install the limit switch and then install the gear with the pin it is much easier to install. that way you won't damage any of the gears. My garage door opener is also craftsman 1/2 horse power.

Garage door would "over close" putting a crazy bend in the t rail. Figured had to be the limit switch. It only took me a year to address the problem. If i knew it was that easy...... thanks for the help.

Wow, nearly 3,000 views and 7 likes before me, really people? I did my install in less than half the time this video took to shoot, in large part due to your detailing the location of the wires (a repair guy uninstalled mine so I didn't know where to put them back) Thanks, they wanted $160 for this 3 minute install (which included putting lithium grease on the new gears. I got my part new for $16 on Ebay...don't buy this used, the gear is crucial. Thanks much
