Garage Flake Floor Makeover: Epoxy + Polyaspartic Magic

Welcome back to another episode of Garage Floor Makeovers. We use a four part system to bring this garage floor back to life and give the homeowner the garage floor of their dreams. Our floors are guaranteed to shine for years to come, provide a durable, non-slip & easy to clean surface that will make your neighbors jealous.
Sit back and watch as we use our 900lb surface grinder to expose the "whitecap" of the concrete surface, followed up by filling all cracks and spalling areas with our two-part, polyurea crackfilling material. Once prepped, we use an epoxy primer + intermediate coat that will give the floor a solid foundation for the "Gravel" Vinyl Flake chips to live on. Once flaked, we return the next day to scrape all excess flakes and apply our signature Polyaspartic topcoat that gives the ultimate protection, durability, and long-lasting shine for years to come.

Does the flake not last outside the garage door where it abuts driveway?

Great question! The flake itself will last, it's just that epoxy is not UV stable and will start to yellow in direct sun light. For aprons / outdoor patios etc, we use a tinted polyaspartic base > flake and then topcoat with a clear polyaspartic. Not as durable as an epoxy base, but does the trick to combat the yellowing.

Thanks so if epoxy is base and complete flake coverage with polyaspartic as a top should be fine? Epoxy being completely covered with flake no yellowing?

Yep - as long as you hit with 107% full rejection of flake and make sure not have any bleeding / shiny spots coming through. Just make sure to add plenty of aluminum oxide for grip. We've had a few people call and mention that their apron was now more "slippery" than before. We had to change our verbiage in contract and explain why the finish will be different than the porous material / texture that absorbed water before vs repelling with the new poly topcoat.
