Trick for cutting the wall sheets lengthwise, you can with a straight edge & a concrete nail thru a piece of 2x1, SCORE Heavily & it will fold & snap. Also when your heating your brass fittings with the torch have the brass just at the edge of the blue flame, thats where its hottest, Cheers mate thoroughly enjoying your videos.

I hope you do a fantastic seal on that garage floor. One of the first things we did in our remodel and one of my favorite accomplishments because it has been so beneficial. Oil wipes right off. Had a brake line break on my antique VW Bus - mess wiped right up! This sealing also helped with moisture and insects. It has been in place for almost 20 years and held up very well.

Just a quick suggestion. Quarter turn hose-bibs (Home Depot sells them) that use ball joints don't require washers and they work really well. The quarter turn valves require no maintenance and last virtually forever. Also, I have started using Sharkbites for connecting to areas where there is water instead of solder joint. The reasoning is that if you have to remove the bib for some reason (like it is damaged), all you have to do pop the push-on connector. You did use them for your Pex connections so you know this already. It's really hard to re-solder a connection when water is coming out of it. I actually used all Sharkbite connections (push-on) for my exterior water service that connects with the main. I live in Arizona and I was skeptical at using them in the intense heat of summer here (115 degrees in the shade). It's been several years and I have never had a problem. The benefit is, if I have to work on the main service piping for some reason, I don't have to heat up solder joints to break the pipe connections. The problem is that main valve leaks water into my service piping, so even if I turn off the main, there is always water in the line when I try to solder it. So I decided to try Sharkbite connectors and so far they have worked really well.

Hmm, I think I would've went with a frost-free faucet for the exterior, but I guess if you have ready access to the inside of the wall it wouldn't be too hard to replace if you get a bad cold snap and bust the faucet itself. The project is shaping up nicely though. Good work.

Getting the shutoff ~3in into the wall cavity would probably be plenty for the temperatures he sees in the area, especially if he spray foamed around it instead of regular batt insulation. OC, that's also expensive, like $150 for the bib and hose adapter, plus the DIY sprayfoam kit.

I like the tall height for the hose bibs. I think they're usually just put through the rim joist and traditional construction, so that just dictates the height. But I'm going to take a good tip from you and put mine higher, as well, in my shouse project.

I would echo others in saying that it would have been beneficial to install freeze protected hose bibs . It's my guess that you didn't have any readily available so you went with what you had. You may want to consider switching them out later. You are doing a great job!

Congratulations on completing the metal cladding. I'm looking forward to seeing the garage doors go in. When I did my project we plastered the concrete walls in the double garage to make it look and feel nice and residential. I like the steel you've done though and of course there are many benefits. I guess after the garage doors you will be doing the first fix electrics, plumbing and carpentry. I am constantly amazed that you are doing the majority of the work all by yourself.

The panel around the window and beam, what came to mind was a small filler above and below window with 2 ribs and then you could slide in a full size. Not sure if I described it properly. Nice looking work.

I'm fairly certain that best-practices in your heating/cooling zone is to NOT put plastic behind the interior wallboard. The chances of condensation from the temperature differences is great (unless there is sufficient spray-foam insulation, but then the plastic is not needed because the spray-foam is the barrier).

10:34 Position of external tap. Here in New Zealand, it is normal to mount the tap about that same height -- just because it is easier to use -- as you said.

Hi, heck of a project you've got going there, I know you will love that house! Your wife, maybe not. She will be the one cleaning it...but its your guys dream house. Back in one of your videos on the city house you showed the concrete counter tops, they look outstanding. By any chance, did you make them? If so, do you have any videos you can share? If not...Well, I imagine your new house would use that style counter top, maybe different Technic and colors. Would you share a video with all details? It would be greatly appreciated. Great video! I absolutely love, how detailed you are in your work. We have now decided to add metal siding to the inside of our garage as well. Looks clean and seems to be better up keep than the drywall option. Not to mention the ease of working on things behind the wall! Looks, amazing can't wait to see the garage doors. I'm not sure you are still checking comments - but hopefully you can help if you are! We are finishing out our shop for deer processing with metal (r-panel) like this. I am wanting to add coving (perhaps vinyl) to the bottom to prevent water seeping through and promote cleanliness because we will be washing our walls often. Any advice? I can't wrap my mind around the coving around the metal ridges.

I would probably put the vinyl on first then put the steel on if you are trying to protect that seam where the concrete meets the wall. In the past I have taken a concrete cutting wheel and made a 1/2” deep cut along the wall and ran a flat trim down into the cut and up the wall, then put my metal on. Run a bead of sealant where that trim goes into the cut. That has worked well Keeping water away from the bottom of the wall.

What is your weather like now? It seems like the last video you were wearing a hoodie now your wearing shorts. Also, one time I had a piece of siding around a window that could have bent easily. What I did was screwed a piece of 1x4 to the top and bottom of the opening to ensure it didn’t buckle while I was moving it into place.

i was wondering what that banging noise was and then I realized it was the house wrap over the garage door opening being slapped by the wind. I bet it was a mild wind too, just think that when the doors are open that pressure is going to be exerted on the garage cavity and it could make all that metal on the inside make noise. maybe / maybe not a problem, but if it does pose an issue a aluminum barometric damper to relive the pressure in the space would be a solution or some way to vent the air threw the space, threw that tight envelope.

There’s some lines in that room coming from the floor that leads me to believe there’s radiant heat lines in the concrete. Could be a good room for keeping the utility for that, possibly a washer/dryer or even a water heater. If they make noise at all it could be for that.

That area is going to be a canning kitchen. We have a big garden and love to can and freeze food. We just want to be able to completely isolate that room if we need to from dirt, cold, ect.
