to increase speed i suggest applying an adhesive transfer tape prior to cutting. also if you you want to peel the mask off without using your nails, you can take another used piece of mask and rub the adhesive side on the edge of your work piece to make the mask lift.

Super awesome key notes I took from this is time management and understanding that time is money. Batching is something I need to do for my business and your video really helped verify my thoughts. Thanks for the video!

Try using a simple spray sealer “Deft Clear wood finish” it’s a quick drying clear Lacquer Spray . It does not warp the thin ply materials, just spray a thin coat and it is dry in minutes. HomeDepot and Lowes carry it, anymore it’s all I use to seal any thin ply to get a great look!

I've had a lot of luck using varnish with plywood. The nice thing about varnish is you can just keep applying more as it soaks it up and you can get a lacquer effect. I stain the plywood first too.

My husband and I do hand painted ornaments. I paint each one with acrylic paint after he cuts my designs from Baltic birch and he uses a spray coat to seal them. No warping and no damage to my hand painting! I keep trying to convince him how we could do so much more with a glow forge but the expense is daunting. Oh I’m sure you would anyway but use a well ventilated area to spray your pieces. We would hang them to dry all across our garage on a wire!

@1:48 to etch logos and text into brass I use a multi-step process. I first mask the item with flat black spray paint, then laser the design in to the paint, gently wash the ash off with methyl hydrate to expose the metal and then use a salt water electro-etching process to erode the exposed areas. You can get a really deep, crisp etch with this technique and you don't need much laser to do it, I use a 5w diode laser.

I suggest polyurethane it's the only one i've found that doesn't warp the thin layer wood. You should also try UV clear resin its amazing and dries under a UV light or sunlight in minutes. It creates a hard shell over the wood.

Use a spray clear coat like artist use to seal their art. It will cut down on warping. Lacquer or Varnish. It dries really fast too.

I totally agree about the cards, you may keep the first one just in case, but then you toss every other one after that. A papercraft company I use does put promo codes that are good for a period of time, but even then I just keep the first one or take a pic for later use. This is such an awesome idea, and as you said, you can put anything flat that may work for your industry. Thanks for the tutorial. I love the crafty community. They are always willing to teach and share. You have a new sub for sure! :)

Very interesting video Ryan! Your so right about paper business cards. When they use the card you made they'll be thinking of you! Have you thought about using a light coat of spray lacquer from HD's or even Walmart. It dries super fast and it shouldn't warp the wood.

instead of using two peices of weed. maybe you should use a vector to cut the hole. then raster down the area to hold the tool.

Great video! I'm new to laser engravers. I have a product idea to engrave bamboo cutting boards with custom designs. Cutting boards will all be same size but custom design different on each one. What kind of laser engraver would you recommend for this type of work? Thanks in advance!

Thank you. You would want the pass thru feature on the glowforge Pro if your boards are over 19x12" and remove the bed crumb tray. I have the Plus which is faster and 45 watt but it's not the Pro. The Plus no longer comes in the 45 watt. You can save $500 on a Pro with this link. glowforge.com/hacklab

That would be fun. I would lightly etch and create a aged vintage look and then cut holes or a floral pattern.

Very exciting Parker, you tape down your material so it doesn’t move. your file will have multiple cuts, you run just the front and then take it out, flip and reinsert the run back in web glowforge app . App.glowforge.com
