My vote would be for Wysteria it's a hearty beautiful choice here in the Pacific Northwest. Your skills are on par with craftsman who do this for a living and I don't give compliments easily as I am a professional carpenter with over 45 years of experience.

Good choice & they are not going to get heavy like the Wisteria

Wisteria is absolutely lovely grows just about anywhere handles the cold or the heat. However, it needs to be supervised or within a few weeks it can send out a runner that’ll go into your attic/roof if it can get a foothold. I wisteria is absolutely gorgeous.

Trumpet vine, hyacinth vine, clematis, star jasmine, climbing roses… some you can even plant together as companions and would look gorgeous! :)

Such beautiful work. Before planting anything, I recommend looking into whether it is an invasive species in your area, just in case!

Star jasmine is beautiful and easy to care for. Smells great in the summer, too! It's not as fast growing as some vines but that will be an advantage when it covers the pergola.

Star Jasmine is the exact correct answer. I live in ATL and it loves it here, plus it smells like heaven.

I think it looks beautiful as is with or without. That said, honeysuckle comes to mind, it's kinda summer classic!

It looks great but I am concerned that overtime when it rains the rain will follow the back of the brackets behind the bracket and into those screw holes and end up, riding the siding and the studs inside. Perhaps it would have been helpful to had used, right before you attached it to your pergola to the exterior siding, to might have used that self adhesive, waterproof, flashing tape called, BITUTHENE. And construction it is used between window trim on the outside siding of your house. That keeps water from entering from behind that added piece of wood to you attached to your exterior siding, and it will waterproof area of attachments, and behind it, the screw hole and then you just trim off the excess that might be showing. A solution now, might be that you can caulk at the top of that board that is against your exterior keeping water from working down in there, of course, use paintable caulk in case you ever want to paint your house siding again. On top of that you could even use a piece caulked piece of L flashing that directs the water away from the siding and directs the water to flow over the Pergola to drip down. In regards to choosing a plant whatever, as the plant grows keep an eye out and don’t let it try to work its way in between your siding. I’ve had an ivy pull my siding apart, so maintaining that plant properly is key. Do not try to grab your building and only stay on the Pergola is very important. Your home looks beautiful. I am very happy for you.

As for a plant, maybe consider something that doesn’t grow too fast so you’re always maintaining. It’s crazy fast growing tendrils that will try to cover your house, passion, flower, and wisteria grow too fast, I had a friend who used trumpet vine, and it look beautiful. Of course Jasmine would be lovely, but I think it definitely loves to grow about 6 feet each season you of course can check with your local nursery they would know best in your region how these plants respond another thing to grow there might be a climbing rose. I love the pink ones because they look like little tiny roses as they open and you can pick them just before they totally open and they’re beautiful to put in your hair or in a tiny vase. They also have a wonderful climbing rose that only has five petals. I think it only comes in white, but it grows in clusters like grapes grow in a cluster. I think it looks very elegant and would look lovely above your garage, of course, with roses you may have to spray something for little moths And any other rose concern… Whereas Jasmine is pretty low maintenance as far as bugs go

Clematis or trumpet bone depending on your color preference, actually if it faces south, go with Dipledania (available in red, white, hot and pale pink) they flower all summer long no drawing necessary and can be perennials in zones with mild winters.

I love Honeysuckle, a wonderful scent, and it green year round. Very hardy to both cold and heat. Wisteria can be very messy after the blooms die back. Also, the limbs they can become very heavy. Having support to the ground would eventually be necessary with Wisteria. 😢

I can grow all kinds of food but I don't grow flowers or flowering vines. In my window boxes I use fake plants that I can change out or add to for different holidays/seasons. Maybe you can use fake vines and flowers instead of worrying about growing and caring for real ones.
