The nodule was so beautiful when you opened it up!! You value every piece of the stones, and I admire that. So thoughtful of your viewer to purchase and send those stones to you. You did an awesome job of working them into gorgeous pieces!! You have quite an investment in your workshop equipment and supplies. It must bring you so much joy to be working with turning stones into such beautiful and unique creations. I just love and admire what you do. ❤️

TY as always for sharing your day with us all. That last piece was so beautiful. You just never know what surprises are waiting inside. I have a bowl of off fragments, small pieces and other people's rejects. The grandchildren and neighbor children love to sort through the bowl, and I don't worry about them handling the pieces. Win win. Cultivating new young rock enthusiasts. 😊

I would say the first nodule is Botswana Agate. Nice piece too. The second for sure is a Brazilian Agate. I think the third agate is a moctezuma agate which is from Mexico. Also a very nice piece.

Taylor, obviously you have friends in the right places! Yeah, thirty years ago I was at such a sale, and the things those people were selling were amazing. I explained to those people what those rocks were; they shrugged, and then asked me to name a price. I said seventy-five dollars. They rolled their eyes and smirked. Clearly I was the biggest dope in the world to give them so much money for some old stones. Those "old stones" have pride-of -place in my display cabinet.

If you know some one who can make stained glass lanterns they can make one with slices of agate instead of pieces of glass. I have seen candle lanterns made with agate & they look amazing & even small pieces can be incorperated. You can also use a ready made lantern & glue pieces of agate on to the glass but be carefull, some types of glue are highly flammable. Some battery lit lanterns also do get hot.

I LOVE how excited you get! Question. What is the difference between a nodule and an agate? Also, could you show the fluorite you found? I have the crystals but would love to see it in its natural form. Thanks so much Taylor!! Ps...do you cut any other rock than agate?
@AgateDad
@AgateDad 11 ай бұрын
So yes I cut much more other than agate but agates are my favorite so I lean into that much more. An agate nodule is an unbanded agate in its most natural state, the nodule, was the truest form before cracking, wearing away some husk over time, or whatever. So nodules are the most exciting thing to me because you really never know whats going on since someof the time nothing is shown.

I have trouble with the transition from 220 to 280 with the harder stones. So I would like to get another hard around 280 or 300. What I do now is take it to my slant lap the thing says 180 but it's definitely 280 it was written in marker. Any way after that I go to the 280 soft otherwise it gets annoying lol. I think that agate is from Mars because it's out of this world.👍👍😁 Great video

@@AgateDad I just spotted this on the National Park Service, “Lake Superior volcanoes? A mid-continent rift? It all happened right here on the Keweenaw Peninsula! The cold exposed bedrock in the Keweenaw had a fiery beginning some 1.1 billion years ago, but it is still affecting our lives today.” Since agates are born of volcanoes and volcanic conditions, it seems logical the oldest most agates from Michigan can be is 1.1 billion years from initial formation? Then, someone smarter than me could postulate on how long they took to form from start to finish?
