Building a woodgas generator is definitely on my to do list. The US Gov actually published instructions years ago on how to build one out of common materials, so farmers could run their tractors in the event of a gas shortage.

@@nono-oz4gv at that point you turned it into a very inefficient and impossible to regulate jet engine. It would not work as a gas generator, as the working principle of a woodgas generator relies on the absence of oxygen. Otherwise the wood gas would burn immediatly inside the barrel. That being said, a turbo barrel powered Lada would also make for a good video.

Would work better if you had a separate container to heat up wood not charcoal. Then run a tube at the top of the container for the gas not smoke to go through a cooler then filters would be cleaner and no smoke to filter out and would get more gas the way it's done now is a large portion of the gas is getting consumed in the fire. Have seen a few people make these and get them to work decently of course they were trucks not cars lol

Genius project! 🤩 It would be fantastic if you could try some performance using the HHO generator! Greetings from Croatia!

Gasification works with carburetor only (typically) fuel injection would require magical tuning I would imagine. But during world War 2 wood fire Gasification was perfected!

Thought about this for a moment... How about using a Ural motorcycle, with the burner and piping replacing the sidecar body. You'd still have the two wheel drive from the rear wheel and sidecar wheel but scaled down for better performance. What do you think?

A very old idea, but still seems to work surprisingly well. And coal gas is very toxic, so sticking your head over the burner and taking a big whiff is not recommended.
