@jrmyadventr5 ай бұрын
Well, it was a combination of rust, dirt, grease, sound deadening, and paint. just removing sound deadening would have been at least half the weight I would reckon; as I've stripped a car's interior before and learned just how much everything weighed.
@bitkarek5 ай бұрын
sound deadening is pretty heavy, its the first thing you do if you build a race car out of normal car.
@keithyinger33265 ай бұрын
I guess would have been a lot of it is sound deadening material weight and all of the stuff they stripped off from the underside of the car. It may not seem like much fine sand and dirt but over that much area, the weight of all that sand stuck to the dirt and the frame can weigh quite a bit. Ever try and pick up a 5-gallon bucket full of sand? It weighs quite a bit.

Would be interesting to know what you thought of the car you stripped driving it on a normal road ? The answer is; UNBEARABLE. Sounds like you are inside a tin biscuit box with marbles inside. The ONLY cushioning is the tyres. Impossible NOT to have all that sound deadening stuff if you want a daily driver. So although we all knew what the result would be; a far more interesting topic would be how to reduce the noise level of a tin box WITHOUT adding too much weight and WHAT to do it with.

That was surprising. When they were getting ready to hoist the car up for the second time I guessed at 30kg based on roughly how much new sound deadening and 4 or 5L of primer/paint would weigh. @Reman19755 ай бұрын
@@ljubomirculibrk4097 Interesting idea, but I'm thinking it's unlikely. Zinc's a pretty good conductor of heat, so it would take a fair bit more power to flash vaporise that than it takes to just burn off paint and rust. If you watch the process they're having to make a couple of passes to get all the paint off, so I doubt they were pushing enough energy into it to melt any zinc that may have been there. Also, if the power was cranked up high enough to vaporize galvanising I'd expect to see the same tell tail yellow deposits you get on the surface when you don't clean galvanising from sheet metal well enough before welding.

Here's a video idea I've never seen done: what if you over bored an engine cylinder and instead of honing (cross hatching) the cylinder walls you rust blued them? Apparently rust blued iron is protected from normal rust if it has previously had oil applied to it's surface, so it must be somewhat retaining it. You could also try applying bluing solutions to this Lada, since they might make it look quite unique while retaining the reduced body weight. awesome video, now you must polish the metal to perfection like a mirror! I've always wanted a car like that...

Звукоизоляционный слой тоже очень хорош, снимается сухим льдом. Видел на другом канале.. Кажется, "Chris Fix"🤔 Но я понятия не имею, насколько он дорогой.. Sound proof layer is also very good, removable with Dry Ice. Saw it on another channel.. I think "Chris Fix"🤔 But I have no idea how pricey it is..

Would be cool to see you guys polish the steel and seal it. Then get it running and driving.
