Probably one of the most effective Garageband tutorials I've ever seen. My gosh why aren't they all like this. I can't describe why it's more effective. But we really get to see him start from scratch and then use all of the most essential features without getting into anything overly trivial.

Everything went over in this video is pretty essential to making a basic song. Every single feature showcased can and should be utilized in a basic Garageband song.

Not basic enough for me...what’s a midi controller? Is that a keyboard?
@pointblankmusicschool6 жыл бұрын
A midi controller often looks like a keyboard but doesn't always. Midi can get quite complex but for the purposes of your question, a midi controller is whatever you use to play notes in something like GarageBand (whereas a keyboard will play notes internally). Sometimes it looks like a keyboard, ie laid out with white and black notes as a piano is, or sometimes it will be laid out in rubbery pads that you can hit instead of keys. You can use your computer's keyboard in this way too, although its rare that you would call that a midi controller, as its not its primary function. I hope that helps.
@ghostboi1656 жыл бұрын
basic answer: midi controlled=electric piano (i might be incorrect though)
@Jeff996 жыл бұрын
Although there are several types of MIDI controllers, let's assume a keyboard. MIDI is a format for digitally describing a note. A keyboard MIDI controller lets you play notes and outputs the digital notation over a MIDI cable to a MIDI input, such as a Mac or other MIDI device, that receives the MIDI notes and either records them, like with GarageBand, or plays them with a different sound than the keyboard has. Older MIDI cables had several individual lines within and used round connectors. They are still popular, but now MIDI can be sent over USB lines making it easier to connect to a computer. Does that help?

Point Blank Music School is the akai professional mpk mini MKII considered as a midi? A really useful and well explained Garageband tutorial. Presentation becomes just a bit too quick and content-laden from about 31 minutes for me, a newcomer to the software, but it is all there and easy to replay. A lot more intelligent than some of the other KZbin videos on the same topic. Many thanks for this video. Very clear indeed. :)
