I have used a lot of mowers in my life, the thing that makes most of the mowers have grass under the deck is how wet the grass is, ie never mow first thing in the morning, that dew covered grass will mess up the underside of your deck, and never after a rain storm. Also another contributing factor is the blade itself. Now all the mowers I have used over the years, the only one that never seems to get grass stuck under the deck is the Snapper High Vac deck with the high lift snapper blade, the reason I said the blade has a lot to do with it, and the blade design, even my Snapper with the high vac deck, with the mulch plug in the tube, it never seems to get grass sticking to the underside of its deck, now unless you use the ninja X snapper blade, I used one the other day, and Omg, there was a line of grass on the underside of the deck right at blade height, I was pissed, it took a long time to clean it off, so no ninja X blade for me. I will have to give that slip stuff a try, and do a video of the results, tks man.

In the real world, that I live in, even when the grass does not have dew or rain water standing in it, grass still has moisture in it that will cause the same effect or worse, since it is not just water, but grass "juice". So even on a hot, dry day, you can still get a wet build-up that can accumulate quickly if you are doing more that a golf course quality lawn. I have to mow where there is thick, tall grass which also has weeds. Some of these weeds are much like succulents, and contain a lot of moisture inside the plant. All this being said, there is nothing going to keep you from having to periodically clean your mower deck. If you don't have a removable deck (riders), accessing the bottom of your deck becomes even more problematic and a more effective coating is needed.
@bjb7587Ай бұрын
I can get around wet grass in the summer, 'cause we have little moisture then. Spring and Fall - hard to avoid wet grass. Morning dew, low angle sun and clouds, cool temps. I only take off my rider deck in the Fall. Gonna go with the paint rather than the spray, because it lasts longer, and use it on my push mower too.

I have used graphite spray on mowers that are now 20 years old. Beyond keeping grass and that slurry from sticking its great. And by doing just that it prevents deck rusting. Slip Plate is available, My original source was a farm implements dealer in Lincoln NE. They shipped a case of twelve cans. That was a fifteen year supply.

I mow 5.25 acres just about every week from April through October with a Kubota tractor. I had to go with a 54" deck because the 60" deck wouldn't fit on mt 5X8 trailor. The 60 inch deck is actually about 63" to privide a 60" cut. I'm going to try SLip Plate if I can find it. I will check my local hardware stores forst. If no luck I'll look on line. I did 2 coats of the paint on, and I had it coming off in certain spots after maybe 4-5 mows, with pressure wash's every other mow. I get a lot of clumping under the deck of my push mower. The non-stick doesn't stick as a perk for me based on my experience. I do believe however it is a great option to help extend the life of your mower deck by preventing rust. Thank you for the "Well don't mow when it's wet"-counterargument. I'm from the Netherlands, and I basically wouldn't be able to mow the entire spring and fall if I had to wait for the grass to be dry. I don't think you have a riding mower, but if you do - or know somebody who does, can you try it on the tires too? My front deck mower picks up an insane amount of clippings on the wheels when it's wet, I'd love to prevent that from happening.

Amazon say's currently unavailable, so looked online and found something similar called B'LASTER at my local ace for $7 a can and since I gotta go there today anyways to get a tube of grease for my deck spindles, axles, etc. and a couple of washers for my deck hangers, I'll pick up a can of it and give it a shot...so to speak. Right now the deck is clean as a whistle underneath. Not sure why, unless me mowing all those dry leaves into mulch last fall acted like a sand blaster on the deck, lol.

I used Slip Plate on my new mower many years ago. It worked great for about 10 to 16 hours of mowing, but it was applied right over the 'factory paint, which was about the poorest quality paint job I have ever seen. The paint peeled off, leaving bare metal for the grass to stick to. I would have been better of to sand blast the factory paint first, then Slip Plate it. I use this on my moldboard plow that I use for the garden and food plots. The plow needs to shine like a mirror to work right, so as soon as I'm done plowing, I clean off any dirt and coat it. Stored under a roof, it will keep the plow from rusting until the next use. Unlike grease or regular paint, I can plow with no clean up the next time. It will wear off with the dirt pushing over it and leave a great shine.

Great info, JB. My thinking is that for 20 bucks a can for a non-permanent solution (there is no permanent one.....) I'll just keep using my electric pressure washer every 2-3 mows. And as for snowblower augers, I would put a high-solids ceramic coating up against that Slip Plate any day. Sorry, Slip Plate. I'm not a fan.

On the Slip Plate website, in the FAQ section, was a question that specifically mentioned a product called MowerGUARD (in aerosol form) that is just for this spurpose, which was supposed to last for up to 12 mowings before needing a re-coat. However, when searching for it, it does not show up on their own website. Nor does a Google search find this product. Do you know is the product you are using in this video is a replacement for MowerGUARD?
