Hi guy. I was just outside cleaning my new ego lawn mower on. April 8th 2024.....day of the eclipse. I used just regular hot water and drill brush under the deck. And it works very good!!!....and it's real fast. Just let the brush and your drill do the work and wipe clean.....I got my drill brush years ago from Amazon. Just wanted to share. Takecare.

I use my Ego mower on multiple properties and I can't put it in my suv without cleaning it first, it makes a grassy mess. I use 3 things to clean the deck and it only takes 2 minutes. First I use my Ego leaf blower (don't forget the mulch plug). Second I use Meguiars Waterless Wash & Wax spray and a Dollar Tree toilet brush. The Meguiars has gentle solvents which removes caked on grass. Third, now that the grass is no longer stuck on, blow it again. The Meguiars also leaves behind a slippery wax which prevents caking of grass. It's 10 bucks a bottle but it only takes a few squirts. I've used one bottle for the past two seasons and it's still half full.

Before you even mow, spray silicone spray under the deck to keep the surface slick. Keeps the grass from easily sticking and makes for easier cleaning.

I have been using sillycone spray on my snow blower for years to keep the Shute from clogging up with ice, and also around the outside, the snow just falls off. I start early in the season and give a few coats. I am researching buying an electric but so far the reviews for the lower price ones are terrible. I'm 79 and don't want to spend $789 on something I won't be around to use.

I’ve been using a hose on my ego mower for 5 years now. I live in south Florida so I mow year round. My mower is still in great shape. I have an attachment on my hose that I use to jet spray only the bottom of the deck. I use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe it down. Unless you get a lemon ego lawnmower, which is highly improbable, they build these mowers like tanks. They can take water on the bottom of the deck. And no, I don’t use a hose nor recommend using a hose to clean off the rest of the mower.

@@jackmorgan8931 I'm a 77 year old lady with this EGO mower that promises the sky in the ads. I'm just not as happy as I wanted to be, for the price I paid for the darn thing. I have to wait all day for the grass to get as dry as possible after all the dew dries off the grass. My yard is a pretty small suburban lawn, and the battery runs all the way down. I keep having to turn the mower over and clean out the undercarriage at least once to finish mowing the lawn. Then when I'm all done the mess that's stuck underneath!!! Now it's dark, and I have to clean underneath, and not use a hose. If any grass stays stuck under the mower, I need to jackhammer it out the next day. I even sprayed on WD40 to avoid all this sticking. Can you tell I'm not happy with this mower. I did turn it over today, and used the hose with a very small spray. EGO, you need to replace your product design people.

Coat the plastic housing with anything from a vegetable oil spray to a car wax product, then take a few minutes after each mowing to wipe the debris off. Renew the oil or wax as required. The secret is cleaning every time you mow, so the clippings don't get baked on and dried out.

Thanks for the video. When new or after cleaning apply a Ceramic Wax such as Griots Garage 3 n 1 Ceramic Spray (bright green color) or Turtle Wax brand similar type product. You could also apply an actual ceramic coating such as those used for car detailing. It will protect and repel grass for months at a time. Save you from removing the blades and scraping.

Yeah, a ceramic coating would do wonders - should last an entire season (at least) and probably 90% or more of the stuff would come off with just the blower - and probably 9% of the 10% that is left would come off moist rag. Those ridges would be the real issue since there isn't really a good way to coat that area, it's a big design flaw that I know they addressed in the latest top of the line mower.

I clean after every use. I use a scraper I made from a 5 gallon bucket lid. I cut it straight on one side that I hold on to and the other side round to roughly fit into the deck. After that I use a 3 foot wand with my air compressor to blow out the rest. I don't bother to thoroughly clean it with a spray cleaner and paper towel but it looks almost as clean as yours.

I found a different way to clean my mower, just won't work year round...blowing leaves into a pile then mulching them via mulching attachment that comes with the mower. mulching DRY leaves cleans the deck and leaves nothing but a little dust to blow off. Also, takes MUCH fewer trash bags if you haul your leaves off. I don't, I mix the leaf mulch with mulched grass clippings which over time turns into compost for vegetable garden...mulched leaves are also good mulch in flower beds as they soak up the rain and keep plants hydrated longer between waterings...

If the grass is wet, it actually comes right off with the brush and cleans the old grass off as well. I have SP2021 model, single blade. I used to dig out all the nooks and crannies filled with grass when I first got it. It's way too time- consuming and doesn't affect performance. As long as the blade is sharp, it will cut the grass.

Just use a plastic putty knife from Ace Lowes or home depot. That works fine

@@TechMadeEzy - I have a metal Grassbuster one with a curved blade but afraid to use it on this new EGO plastic deck mower. EGO should sell a curved plastic scraper. Just ordered a flexible plastic curved bowl scraper from Amazon.

Spray the underside of the lawnmower with WD40 spray and the grass won't catch you and it will be easier to clean.

Can you tell me an impact driver that isn’t super expensive that will work to change the blades?
@TechMadeEzy

Here is one , it’s a craftsman will do the job comes with battery and charger If not really any impact driver will do the job, not a drill as much but like you said impact driver amzn.to/44aa2nJ

I just hose mine off and then run the blade for a couple minutes to toss off all the excess water... putting silicon makes good sense though.

Come to think of it, the instructions don't really tell you where the motor is, or what needs to be shielded from hose water. That would be very helpful for those of us who need to use a hose.

Why not use a white nylon brush on a drill to clean out all the grass with your cleaner over a scraper.
