To tell which side is 5lbs or 2.5lbs, look at the length of the selector rod. The longer end is 5lbs and shorter end is 2.5lbs. My friend pointed that out to me and it's been a big time saved

I made a mark on mine. Used a silver sharpie and underlined all the +5lb and the direction on the corner which to adjust to make it 5lbs, and the opposite is 2.5.

Thanks a lot! I got these dumbbells a few days ago, and it was one minor inconvenicence not knowing which way to slide that small selector for either the 5lbs or 2.5lbs. Now I know, and you're right, it saves you time!

@AtraMade

@@jimmycruz9114 funny this came up in my notifications, literally just got done using them about 5 mins ago lol. Still going strong, I do wish at times they had range above 55lbs onboard (you can attach micro plates to them since magnetic), but in terms of the dumbbells, they are holding up as good as the day I got them! I don't drop them at all, which may also be why.

I purchased core Home Fitness adjustable dumbbell and the prices went up a little bit, but I paid around $300 and they go up to 50 lb, I couldn't be happier. They don't have the neuralink on the handle it is rubber butt you just the way with the handle, very fast adjustments and overall I think it's fairly well made. There's definitely a lot of plastic, but again for someone like myself they have worked out really well. At Thanksgiving time, Amazon had the newer version of NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells for the $300 as well and I thought that was a great deal as it has knurled handles and you adjust the date weights with a dial or your phone. Love the reviews Coop, your suggestions in the past have helped lead me to different products I would have missed.

These are really good I’ve had mine for almost a year and I can’t find any flaws. I’m a beginner lifter and I don’t anything heavy yet Edit: also I wanna say what I do to distinguish between 5 and 2.5 increments I look at the little pole bar thing the short end is for 2.5 and the long end is for 5 pounds Also finally this get the recognition they deserve!

These dropped to $260, $280 with shipping, for the pair on 'Zon early January and I scooped them up. I really like them and Coop's review is spot on. A couple notes... On the smaller selector, there's a pin size difference - the shorter pin grabs the 2.5, larger grabs the 5... you just have to spend half a second and look. The sliding selector can stick a little but when that's happened to me, it's because I didn't cradle it perfectly. Its an easy jiggle, reset and your good. The handle is great - the light knurling will still give you calluses. Reviews say they work with Jayflex bars/kettle. There's a hard plastic design connecting each 5lb plate and I worry about cracking them if they're dropped, so I don't. Overall, I'm very happy with these. 'preciate the review!

Oh man! So glad Coop finally reviewed these. I got mine on sale like a year ago for $260. These are hands down the best “cheap” dumbbells out there. Feel great; quick to use; and look good. I life heavy with barbells so less than 55 lb dumbbells was all I needed. If I go heavier, I’ll just start building hex bells as I would rather have hexes in the heavier weight sizes than an expensive adjustable that can break. To tell the differences on the selector, I just wrote the number 5 on the correct side in sharpie. Super easy to find now. Also, my dumbbells have a small flat side on the bottom of the dumbbell so they can be placed on a flat surface without rolling. It’s super small but is there. Surprised coop didn’t see that in his review.

I opted for the PowerBlock Sport 50lb EXP. A local fitness store had them priced at $320. I ended up getting a stand on Amazon for $100 to start. Since then, I have added the 70lb and 90lb expansions for $150 each. All-in $720 for adjustable dumbbells that go up to 90 lbs with a stand. I personally think that is a great value and I have been very happy with them. Prior to owning the PowerBlocks I had Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells. While I loved the feeling of those, the slower changing times were a deal breaker to me since I am very short on time as I have four young kiddos. I'm glad to see how the adjustable dumbbell market continues to provide great options at great prices!

I've been waiting for this review! I got them on a huge sale ($260) and love them. Glad to see they are coop approved. There are also Weider and Pro-form versions (pro is up to 50lb though) One con that I faced is that the 2.5/5lb plates aren't machined well to fit so they have a slight looseness to them, and all different. Nothing dangerous but wish they had better quality control. And on that topic the easiest way to tell 2.5/5lb is by looking to see which way the long and short pin point. You also have the ability to place these in any direction in the cradles. Another thing to note is that these work with Jayflex system. I started my home gym journey this year and can't wait to share it. To nordictrack if you are discounting these, make a version that can be expanded to 80lb at least and remove the 2.5/5lb if you need the space. One adjustable dumbbell I haven't seen you mention, but I think the nordictrack is way better, is the core fitness.

I bought these a couple Black Fridays ago from Walmart (under Weider branding). Just use a sharpie to mark which direction is 2.5 and which is 5 lbs. It really isn't a big deal once you get used to it, especially if you always return them to the tray in the same orientation, which is easy to do once you mark them. Also, superset changes are quite fast once you get used to them (a couple days to a couple weeks of routine usage). It really only takes about five seconds, maybe a couple more if you're adjusting all eight sliders. I usually use both hands to adjust both at the same time--another advantage of always keeping them oriented the same.

Had the ProForm version/model over a year now. Went to harbor freight grabbed a dolly so I can wheel them out from under my wire rack I use for equipment storage. Bowflex you grab the whole thing these ones get bigger as you go up in weight. The adjustment is quick have used in hiit without issue. I don’t have the this version from NordicTrack but the proform version has to switches doesn’t do 2 1/2 just 10 pound increments. Also doesn’t roll away from me and sitting on my legs it doesn’t snag or uncomfortable. I got rid of all my collection of 10-50 pound dumbbells with rack. So now under my shelf leaves me a lot more space. Zero issues on my ProForm there is my sneaky review from my home gym review😂

I bought these a few months back after watching this review and initially loved them, but after using them for a little bit there are a few cons. First con is there are zero replacement parts even though it would be super easy to replace the plastic piece on each plate as it’s only held on by 6 screws…. So if you do buy these I recommend being very careful with them. My second con is they aren’t very sturdy, at 20-30 lbs they are ok, but when you’re at 55 they rattle a lot. Last con it they are pretty wide when at the 50-55 lb weight. My powerblocks at 90lbs are nearly the same length. I’ve just replaced these with the powerblock sport 50 which I should have bought in the first places. I’ve owned one set of powerblocks for over 10 years, Coops review was so good I wavered 😂 I recommend spending the extra cash and get something a little more durable.

After struggling with which DBs to get I ordered Nuobells 80 lbs. They arrived broken as they are very poorly packaged and the company (BoS) didn't over box them as they should have been. I bought a set of these branded as Weider Select-a-weight 55's at the start of Covid lockdown for $250 at Sam's club. I couldn't believe the price and just wanted something for home workouts. 2 years later I'm still floored by the quality to cost ratio. I HIGHLY recommend them. The 2.5/5 lb increment selection takes some getting used to, but if you pay attention to where the selector switch is when you're re-racking weights, it becomes second nature. They do work great with Jayflex bars.

I picked up the old black octagon set of these for 200 bucks about a year ago from Dick's and have used them 3-4 times a week for a year and they are holding up great! Core home fitness dumbbells!!! They are inexpensive, use the same type of selector as the Nuobells and they have been around for 10+ years. You just cannot do a thorough review of adjustable dumbbells without including them, they are absolutely perfect for beginners or early intermediate home lifters.

The Core Fitness are great. I won’t ever need over 50 lbs per dumbbell so that are perfect for me.

Worth noting that Best Buy has a set nearly identical to these but they do not have the 5/2.5 adjustments

Coop, you mentioned the Ironmasters can expand to 120 pounds. You can get the 165 pound kit (and the 15 pound heavy handle kit…I have the heavy handle kit…highly recommended)…which brings them to a staggering 180 pounds each!!! Is there any other adjustable dumbbell on the market that goes up to 180 pounds?

I got a pair of 50lb dumbells with the same type of selector for 280 on amazon. Forget the name right now but so far they are great and the cheapest i could find for a set of 50lbs

Can you leave one side on 2.5 and the other on 5 to the the X7.5 weight increment? I do understand it would be out of balance, but maybe an option?

Coop you mention that you are doing a video on the core home fitness adjustable dumbbell. Can you give me an idea as to when this is going to happen? Im trying to decide between the nordic track 55 select vs the core home fitness. Thanks Paul
