I love my LT100. I’m not a professional by any means but after learning how to use it on a handful of projects I’ve been able to get pretty flat finishes. I do have to dial the fluid back a decent amount, especially since I have a smaller compressor. I do have to move kinda slow, but slow activator has helped make it possible to do an entire car with it.

As a home gamer and a newb an affordable slower gun that’ll run on a small compressor is EXACTLY what Im looking for. I doubt very seriously id even notice a slower gun. In my (rattle can)experience I prep for hours just to spray for a few minutes. Id honestly rather things move more slowly. The overspray/material savings seal deal for me. I’m just doing a few panels to make my work beaters look good from across the street.

Hi Chris, love you videos! My first crack at doing body and paint and I am a senior citizen!!! HAHA! You have been a great confidence booster and helped me a lot. I've got this LT100, I know it can spray clear really nice but am I ever struggling with orange peal. So frustrating, I have gone through a lot of material practicing. When you were first spraying the clear, you said fluid wide open, then at the end you mentioned 3 turns out. I know you almost always start at 2-3 turns out. I am wondering what it actually is. I'm using a PPG Shopline base/clear. Keep the videos coming!. Thanks

Has anyone done a time test on the Finish 1 clear yet? Just curious how long it lasts with sun exposure. I typically avoid the $200/gal clearcoats because the ones I’ve used in the past were normally peeling after 1-1/2 to 2 years. I usually stick with the Sherwin Williams CC950.
@BearBudgetgarage10 ай бұрын
For the money, these R500 variations are well made guns that remind me of an older Iwatta design-wise. And I just used the SherwinWilliams clear for the first time yesterday. Flowed out well. After drying a few hours, it felt smooth and a bit rubbery? I assumeit it will harden more in time.

Another great video Chris! Seems like the perfect gun for DIY garage projects. One question, how long do you wait to spray the base color after spraying the clear base and do you respray the clear base every time you apply another coat of base color?
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
Thanks brother, If it's hot day I don't wait to spray the first coat of color over the clear basecoat. I'll only put another coat of clear base if the metallic orientation looks off. There's been occasions when i would have to put alternate paint and clear base several times . If you do that you must make sure your allowing 5-10 min flash time between coats . Thank's for watching!

@toycoma982 жыл бұрын
I have both LT100 and Summit racing LVLP, they are the same guns, also sprayit 33000, Aeropro R500 and any other R500 spray gun. One thing to watch out for are the air horn holes. My summit gun one hole on the air horn is bigger than the other side (was refunded), and the LT100 needle sets like the 1.5 and 1.7 i ordered the holes on air cap aren't centered and look terrible. Needle sets are interchangable. 3m pps 2.0 S35. Settings Base: 20-22 psi, fan 5 turns from closed (wide open), fluid wide open. Clear 30 psi, fan 4-4.5 turns, fluid 3 turns from closed/2 turns in from wide open. Finish1 for me is tough to cut and buff orange peel but denibbing is great, its the only clear i know and use. I always end up with some micro scratches left after i do full cut and buff 1500, 2000, 3000, compound and polish. Can only see it if you look up close. I dont know if other clearcoats stay kinda soft after a few days but i think i may have pushed harder with sandpaper on some areas causing the deeper scratch. I purchased the 710 to redo my hood, thanks for your tip about using a fast clear to decrease chances of dirt landing to the clear as it dries.
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
You are right about the fc720 and it's something I've experienced and forgot to mention. The clear doesn't cure as quickly and will leave those fine scratches ,I believe cause it's still a bit soft. @toycoma982 жыл бұрын
@@GarageNoise 4.0 CFM at 90 PSI, 5.0 CFM at 40 PSI. The manifold regulator it comes with is so slow at recovering pressure. I replaced it with a high flow. Also installed a aftercooler 5" power steering cooler and a 5" muffin fan and a 3/8 water separator before it goes in the tank. Very little water when i drain from the bottom, the 3/8 water separator catches most of it. The pressure is steady when the compressor is on while i'm spraying. It kicks in at 125ish but doesn't drop low enough to cause problems.
