One reason your acme fc740 may have orange peel is its a high solids clear. I tend to get a little orange peel with high solids even spraying with my DV1 clear gun. Ive used those 3 clears at one point. Finish 1 fc740 is what i keep on the shelf for budget clear. Its really good for the price and it has been good for the past 25yrs

I’ve been surprised by finish 1, they have a decent primer in FP415, works great for electrostatic in particular.

Hmmm.... the Upol can you have is UP2892 which isnt an overall clear like whats in the link. FC720 ( a universal clear) should be compared to 2882 for a level playing field I would think. Speed/spot clears tend to have more pinch and dieback than universal.

you are 100% correct. I messed that up for sure. I'd like to compare the UV protection of the different clears and see what we got. Even the spot clear should have similar UV protection as the overall clears. I will make a note in my second video about that. Thank you for pointing that out.

For some reason, Upol clears tend to dry fast to begin with. I've sprayed both 2882 which is a quite decent clear, and can go on quite smooth. The 2802 HS is another decent one, though not as good as Nason Select HS. Being UK based, I wonder if their formulas are based on that region. Looking forward to your results.

Upol seems ok, but I believe i'd prefer the finish one clears for a budget job (I was told during a training class that they're older Sherwin Williams technology IE: used to be top shelf years ago at some point). Dont make the mistake I made and get the spot clear. Although it will be fine for what you're doing, it might not be as glossy since it's so hot out. The slower the better my friend.

Yeah this is going to take some time. Sept I'll be making a 1 year update video. As long as these panels dont get destroyed outside from something stupid (IE amazon driver / traffic / weather) i'm hoping to have an answer on UV impacts, might take 2-3 years to get it though...LOL

Did you read the title? Best Budget! You can go buy some PPG if you want but many of us are on budgets painting a home garage.
