Thanks for sharing all this with us Chris there is some invaluable info in the video which will help all us diy/hobby painters👌I think the Porphis 627 is a split tip version which atomises the clear very finely, I have the PRD-717 which is also a split tip but has the bigger gun body but I believe the internals like the tip, needle and aircap are the same on both guns, they are high quality guns but at an affordable price👌 Keep these videos coming brother🙏👍John UK

Practice panels. I absolutely love having an old fender mounted on a scrap piece of plywood to practice and experiment on. My backyard car paint jobs come out better now. I just grab some "junk" paint from the local paint store and go to town.

I'm just finishing my first job, a 25 year old Tundra. Number one tip in this video (for those with little experience) is don't do it all at once, especially the clear coat. Break it down to panels were you do not move your feet when you spray, moving your feet will make it very difficult to maintain a consistent distance and speed.

Always learn something each time I watch one of your videos. You commented on painting the car in sections. I’m a new DIYer. I’ve got an MGB that I’m painting a dark green solid color, clear coat, no metallics, and I wonder if I will have problems painting the back half, doors, hood and front half separately? I hate to take the car all apart because it seems it takes forever to get it back together.
@GarageNoise29 күн бұрын
Probably not being a solid color. I always like to break it up by sides. I do a whole side at a time. Then roof and hood I do together.

Is tacking after the final layer of base , just before the clear good thing with metallic colors? I've heard stories that metallic particles can move. Even if the base had flashed.

Really love to see a video on tip size selection for spraying clears and base coat. For instance if the TDS says 1.4 to 1.6 which side of that recommendation would be best? Does this make a difference whether it's solid color or metallic?

Is the porpoise better than the black widow?
@GarageNoiseАй бұрын
Both are great guns, it's really a personal preference. I perfer the Porphis with a slight edge because it operates slightly better at lower psi

How long will base and clear last (stay useable) in the 3M container? As always, thanks for all the tips you throw out in your videos.
@GarageNoiseАй бұрын
Clear not long maybe an hour depending on temp. Reduced base much longer if you have it capped off. A week or longer as long as it's not got catalyst in it.

When spraying clear, how do you control the over spray. When spraying clear, the over spray goes up in the air, then falls back down into the clear. Any suggestions? Also, i see the fans in the background are off, and the door is open wow. No bugs?
