Thanks for sharing a bit of your child hood with us. I too come from a small town in upstate NY. Those small towns make for a safe and comfortable place to raise a family but unfortunately don't offer enough to keep a lot of young people around so they have to move on. The 70's was a great time to be a teenager. I often reflect on those days. Perhaps you saw this, but my wife showed me this the other day on Facebook. It said, good thing "smoking in the bathroom" came out in 1973. Today's title would be " vaping in the non specific non gender bathroom" I think I got that right, lol. Anyway, enjoyed your video and ride safe.

You are so right on that song. My how times have changed. I loved grow up there in the 60’s and 70’s. Great little town and it hasn’t changed much since I left. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

Good video. One of the benefits of the internet is that helps us understand more fully that time moves on. Your video of your hometown, high school, and cotton factory serves that purpose very well.

Very good video. Enjoyed the tour of Rome. We live 150miles or so south of there but have visited that area often through the years. In fact I almost attended Berry College back in the early 70's but went a different avenue. Have a family place over on Lake Weiss that we sometimes spend time enjoying.

Good video. That retirement community looks eerily similar to Covenant Woods in Richmond VA, probably the same parent company. Phase one of this one burned to the ground 1day before the sprinkler system was supposed to be brought online. Laborer smoking on the job. Anyhow, nice video cruising around a small town. Make sure you pull and grease the driveshaft on that thing. The 50s have a problem with coming from the factory dry. Don’t know if Suzuki ever properly addressed it. I don’t think they give you any warning before the spline goes. Eventually you hit the gas and get a grinding sound with no acceleration and there you are, stuck on the side of the road.
@GARamblinMan5 жыл бұрын
I had a friend give me the warning about the drive shaft and I had it checked last time I had the motorcycle serviced. Mine checked out ok but I’ve heard of s few people who were stranded because of it. You would think Suzuki would have fine a recall for that but I never got one. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

I am jealous come from a beautiful town. My dream is to move to a place like that. I live in a fairly big city in Canada that is going in the shitter Winnipeg, Manitoba. I decided on a Kawasaki Voyager at 10 grand for a 2015 with 20,000 miles I could not resist and to my surprise I liked it better than the Indian Springfield. Although the Springfield looks cooler but at 53 years old I could care less. I raved about the Springfield earlier when we spoke. lol .Take care god bless and ride safe buddy. I miss the 70s I was a music freak back then and drove my parents nuts with my Aerosmith. Kiss and frank Zappa records.

I am fortunate to live in such a good area to ride in. I’ve always liked the Kawasaki Voyager and Vaquero. I’m 63 and I couldn’t care less either about being cool or worry about what other people think of what I ride. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

Wonderful video! Can’t believe it took this long for someone to develop on that property... Rome is beautiful, kinda reminds me of my area here in south central Mass. I’m excited to visit there soon after the move in April... do some fishing in the river. 👍✌️

The lake is an old quarry and it’s about 400 deep at its deepest. The area around it was a rock quarry and crushing operation up until about 15 years ago. The views from some of the top floor units looking towards the lake are awesome. I’m trying to get my Mom to move in there when it’s done next year. Her house is only about 3 miles away. Thanks for watching and maybe I’ll do another vlog riding along the rivers there. It’s beautiful. Have a great Labor Day.

Many years across the road at Northwest GA Regional Hospital, we'd feel the floor shake, hear a low boom as they were blasting at the quarry where all that water is. I was always wondering if that's what caused the Victory Lake at Berry to drain.
@GARamblinMan Жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of limestone formations underground in NW Georgia and the water will erode those pretty quickly. I heard the lake drained into a massive underground cavern formed out of the weathered limestone but I’m not sure of that. The old quarry and lake next to the Spires at Berry College senior living community is beautiful and deep.

Looks like it’s going to be a really nice building. I see that most places don’t have basements. I have a cool white hard hat as well, except mine says Canadian Pacific Railway lol.
@GARamblinMan5 жыл бұрын
I wish I still had my old L&N Railroad hard hat that I had when I worked for them back in my college days. Good memories of working on a survey crew in Tennessee and Kentucky. Thanks for watching and ride safe my friend. By the way, no need for basements here since the frost line you guys worry about doesn’t exist here. They are good protection from tornadoes though.
