I've followed Garance Dore's blog and carreer since 2009. She seem to have amazing personality , talent and style . There was a time when I lost interest with her website and the topics it covered. Now I am happy to see that Garance found her ground and readership again via her newsletters and closed platform. She is brave and honest. This talk prooves as much.

I respect her for speaking so openly about her jpurney and disillusions along the way. I didn't know who she was, but I'm definitely heading to hear more from her.

I feel everything she said. The fashion influencers I use to love have lost their original spirit and style. It’s impossible to relate to somebody who is mostly wearing clothes being given, borrowed and fitted to them. Most of them wear stuff that would be comical in the real world.

I think it must have taken a lot of courage to get up there and be so brutally honest with her feelings and personal experience… I greatly respect that 🙏🏻✨

She is so brave to stand on a stage in front of the very same people and be honest about how it really is. I hope more people will watch this and share on, I will be -

I have long been a fan of Garance and her work, but saying that she was the first to talk about luxury online is a real reach. I started creating fashion & beauty content in 2006, and long before that I was reading Bryan Boy during my college classes.

Sarah Conley Bryan Boy started blogging in 2004 and Garance in 2006. That being said, not sure if he has always been about luxury fashion.🤷🏻♀️

Trying to fit in (in any industry) is horrendous. Im sure she must have been really affected for all the years that she spent trying to be like her counterparts, which is especially bad in the fashion industry where one's fluidity and creativity should never be stifled, else they loose their agility. I say bravo to her! For daring to be awkward in such an empowering way!

This was an empowering speech. I have so much respect for her not confining herself to the ways of the industry, but finding her own path.

@@StyleMeSeoul I'm glad you can relate with my reaction. When you confine, you loose so much of yourself and your values. It's never worth it.

This is random but the sound on these videos is kind of low. I have my volume on high and it’s still to difficult to hear. I don’t want to have to hold my device to hear it. Please increase your video volume! I love your channel and the BoF work! Thank you. Sincerely.

Most of us enter the fashion industry for pure joy and enthusiasm, but in due time, the business can squash passion and drain the soul. Ms. Dore's story illustrates this beautifully, except for the profanity, which is never in style. A chic package isn't just clothes & carriage, but word choice as well.

It's so funny watching this during covid19 knowing so many OG street style circuit women have walked away from the industry like Shala Monroque and Taylor Tomasi Hill who's only just making a bigger comeback with The Yes.

It seems that what has happened is those in the rarified air of the industry is suffocating from the lack of oxygen in the content of collections, leaving them completely disconnected from the ground level of consumers who has been keeping luxury an illusion all along.....
