I generally avoid Patagucci for any outdoor clothing. Arc'Teryx (Dead Bird) is usually very good but ALWAYS very expensive. Their LEAF clothing is thoroughly tested by US and Canadian operators. For backpacking I'm lately buying Duluth Trading Dry-on-the-Fly synthetic clothing. Good stuff for very reasonable prices.

Hey Mike, for real, thank you for voicing your opinions despite such hostile social media environments. The points you make in your dad advice sections sing true to the types of things my grandfather and others taught me as a kid and i think that much of the strife that we experience in today's America stems from people ignore this type of advice. I"ve always thougth that selfishness, miscommunication and misinformation can be traced back to nearly every confrontation or war ever faught. I strive to live by those dad advices and its always served me well. I hope that your opinions can break through to more people, cause we can certainly use more kindness in our country today.

An enjoyable clip as always and very informative. So thanks for making/sharing. As I'm a bit of a lazy barsturd, I haven't trawled through the comments to see if anyone else has pointed out a brand named Claw Gear, from Austria. Their stuff is quite affordable and takes a real beating. They issue the local SF boys, Jagdkommando, with their kit. The setup of their combat shirt is much like the G4 Crye one. Anyway, keep 'm coming and looking forward to the next vid!

1)Glad to see the G4 top shows love and tolerance for lefties (pen holder on right sleeve) 2)BRAVO for calling out Patagonia! 3)Good comment on kindness. A true warrior can show kindness; he doesn't have to constantly prove how tough he is.

I've always felt there is an advantage to a well positioned and generous upper arm pocket where it can be inserted with a panel of insulating material when used in the cold. It's the perfect place for additional insulation such as closed cell foam as we all hold ourselves there when trying to keep warm. Next time you talk about shirts, I would hope that you mention this as an alternative benefit.

They peg the sleeves so Soldiers don't roll their sleeves. Which is why they get no love. I gave my massif shirts to a migrant worker and bought 30$ miltec tops for my last deployment.

Used Massif for a while before got Crye, first thing I noticed is velcro messes it up every single time, got rips after first time I used it with my regular plate carrier. If you got something without velcro its really cool one.

Man, wool is amazing. I mean...sheep dig it. There's lot of sheep. They seem fine outside...seriously you're right on with wool. Regrettably I was never a soldier, but I spend a LOT of time outside, in varying temps. I was a tower tech for a long time and my job was fixing things during an emergency. I've hung off of a tower on Vail Pass in Colorado in Feb. for 20 straight hours. I had a lot of gear on me to keep the cold out but dude, my wool long johns were amazing. I never got too sweaty, stayed warm (ish) and got the job done. Coldest night/day of my life on a tower covered in ice at a jobsite I had to be flown in to. Wool rocks.

The army issued a brand called Mastiff. Felt like you were putting on a paper bag. They breathe in a whole lot better than the traditional ACU especially out in the desert. But they would tear after only a few washes.
