Troubleshooting video of a leaking Garbage Disposal and the fixes.

Yes I discovered JB Weld too, and I dropped a camera once, and put it back together "humpty dumpty" style with JB Weld, still use it to this day.

All that work just to replace it. Sad but makes sense, I hope we can learn from this. That foam cost 6 bucks and the silicon cost about 2-3 bucks, plus all the time you invested. Much appreciated. I'm guessing your blessings come from investing your time. 👍🏼

Yes you have it right, the blessings come people learning how to save their time and money. Lets use an extreme example: Jesus gave his life on the cross, so our sins can be forgiven and by faith in his blood we can go to heaven. If people can learn from Him, and give themselves for others, would we have a better world to live in? Well its just some food for thought. Now back to the Garbage Disposal. LOL

Thanks for good feedback, I am glad my leak was at the seam it was a lot easier to fix than if it was in the water well, but great stuff and silicone would still "gitter done"

Yes! Great Stuff was good for the leaks on the side, and bought me 3 more years, until it started leaking from the bottom, then I had to take it apart and use Great Stuff to seal the seem better. Good luck on the Great Stuff, careful because it expands.

Thanks for the sub, If its a small crack in the sides, then the great stuff or silicone should do the job, it bought me 3 more years. If its leaking from the bottom, you need to take it apart and check the nut, the water well, and the seal for leaks like I did in my video, then take appropriate action.

Thanks for the compliment, now that you have a new garbage disposal in you should experiment with your old one, take it apart, fix it as per the video then store it as a "backup".

You are talking about the section of video starting at 7:24, Yes to the naked eye they are identical, but there maybe dents and imperceptible curves in the screw that I felt numbering them for a "perfect fit" was necessary. But I probably could have gotten away without numbering them, and their holes.

That Evergrind looks nearly identical to the Insinkerator Badgers I've been using for the last 30 years. Sure enough, a little searching online and lo and behold Evergrind and Insinkerator are both owned by the big conglomerate Emerson. Looks like your Emerson Evergrind is basically an Insinkerator Badger in grey instead of black. :D

I believe it would have last 3 or 4 more years, but if you watch the end of the video because it took so long to make the video 2 or 3 weeks, I needed to buy a new one. But this one is still in my garage as a back-up.

If the reset button is at the bottom, then you should follow the instruction in this video to fix the main source of the leak. Because even though you see the water leaking from the button, the source of your leak is how I describe it in the video. What your describe as the "button leak" is just the symptom, of something deeper and more sinister.

Well if you watch my video until the end, specifically at 8:52, you will see that I did buy a new garbage disposal, but kept "Frankengrind" as a backup. But some people might not have the funds for a new one, so sometimes a fix it a good play.
