Brian, "Oh we got a little treasure , smells like Garlic" ! LOL ... HA HA HA ... "looks pretty good in here". Me thinking = "looks really nasty and rusty, there's going to be a hole in that plate" YUCK. Seriously though why in the world would they make something that is constantly wet and exposed to all kind of filth out of just regular metal , oh yeah because of $$$$$ .. I wonder if the better quality ones are made of Stainless steel maybe? Hummmm perhaps we need another video to find out ! Thumbs UP to you for not being afraid to dig into stuff like that.

9:48 This plate rots out on all of the cheaper disposal models. I suspect that stainless steel or even heavy plastic would last longer here. It doesn't get that much wear since the cutting blades are above the disk, but steel seems like the worst possible material for a surface that is always wet.

Those are disposable but they’ll last 3-5 years and are cheap. Their 3 and 5 year warranty models aren’t worth the extra money if it’s a job you can do yourself. Just replace the cheapest 1 year warranty ones every 3-5 years. Last one I had rusted out and leaked. I ran ice cubes through it to clean it and it sprung a leak.

That was pretty good. I was going to put jb weld on the outer portion you can access with the spin table on it but I see now it would just rot out higher up which would make a new unit not worth coating in jb weld. And I don't want to disassemble a new unit too much.

i knew there was a reason to buy the stainless steel model but it had a stupid plastic liner around the grind chamber like a plastic milk jug material and it melted and warped trying to clear grease clog with boiling water so much for super heavy duty stainless model killed by boiling water

I'm sure that would work. They were on it though and had a new one ready for install before I got over there. I watched a couple of videos of people doing that. Would be a good temp fix if in a pinch, Thank you

@@ThatFixItGuy I did that with Gorilla glue and it worked for a while. Unfortunately, the water degraded the motor and it eventually failed. Maybe if I'd caught the problem earlier it would have lasted longer.

Very informative video Brian. I have been running behind on watching you tube ever since the tornadoes came through Ky it has played havoc with my cell phone service. We were lucky it missed us by about 3 miles. There was a lot of damage to several surrounding farms and homes. In Bowling Green about 8 miles from me the city had a lot of damage and 12 deaths. The western part of our state the little town of Mayfield was nearly wiped out. Please keep the people of Ky that has lost family and homes in your thoughts and prayers 🙏

Oh Britt I’m glad you and yours family are ok. As soon as I heard about the damage you were the first person I though of. Looking at the pictures of Kentucky and the rest of the path make my heart ache. So much damage. I will keep all these states in my prayers. It is so hard to see the bright side of anything when something like this happens, but I know God loves us and continues to watch over is always. Be safe my friend.

Throw away society, lease society (when it comes to electronic devices and planned obsolescence), it’s all the same. I’m actually pretty concerned about our youth…gone are the days of spending good money on something and it lasting years and years of you take care of it…now something breaks or is purposely phased out and all you can do is waste money buying a new one. How can normal people ever save money when they are CONSTANTLY having to buy more cheap crap that’s expensive!?
