@@svetastrezeva4521 Shirley couldn’t have been nicer. She talked to us as if we were friends. We stayed for quite a while. The food was just a spread of different things. This was back in 2001. I don’t remember exactly what there was. But this was at Mt. Holyoke College in Amherst, Massachusetts. We were friends with a young guy that helped them set up their equipment so he knew my daughter belonged to her fan club so we were the only ones invited backstage. It was quite an honor!!🥰

This is one of those songs that you only neeed to hear once for it to lodge its self deep into your brain for the rest of your life. So haunting, so captivating, so melancholically beautiful. As an adult now, I also appreciate the lyrical content too. "I am lost, so I am cruel, but I'd be love and sweetness, if I had you".... I GET that now! I really get it!

There's dreck because it's a commercial industry. The key is supporting acts you like through their personal pages, websites, etc, rather than propping up the profit driven industry. Tons of great artists are taking their music directly to us, or through independent labels that give them more creative control and better payouts than the major labels that are there to prop up aging Disney radio stars.

I am milk I am red hot kitchen And I am cool Cool as the deep blue ocean I am lost So I am cruel But I'd be love and sweetness If I had you I'm waiting, I'm waiting for you [repeat 2x] I am weak But I am strong I can use my tears to Bring you home I'm waiting, I'm waiting for you [repeat 3x] I am milk I am red hot kitchen And I am cool Cool as the deep blue ocean I'm waiting, I'm waiting for you I'm waiting, I'm waiting for you I'm waiting, I'm waiting for you I'm breaking, I'm aching for you I'm waiting I'm waiting I'm waiting for you

I thought so too, but at 2:27 you can clearly see her lips don't come together to make the 'p' bilabial plosive sound. So it can't be "top".

Most hypnotic & haunting song ever. But here are some others that might touch some of the same buttons and might be worth a try: Rolling Stones "Heaven;" Bliss: "Wish You Were Here;" Fleetwood Mac "Brown Eyes;" Heather Nova "Winter Blue;" Loreena McKennitt "Night Ride Across the Caucasus" & "Prologue;" Wasis Diop "Everything Is Never Quite Enough;" Mazzy Star "Into Dust;" Leonard Cohen "By the Rivers Dark" & "A Thousand Kisses Deep" & "The Darkness;" Metisse "Nomah's Land;" Touch & Go "Tango in Harlem." Hope at least some of these do the trick for you

Love the chord changes in this song as well. And the final gothic-looking image of Shirley, after all the previous close-up lush beauty, is very effective, underlining the dark feel of the song.

I remember that back then walmart had a very lenient return program. I purchased this cassette, listened to it and didn't like it. Went back to store and they didn't approve the return. I was really angry but kept on listening cause, you know, money was tight. This return denial led to this becoming one of my most favorite albums of all time. This is 90s manifested. Long live Garbage. God bless Shirley Manson.

First heard this song in the late 90s, sitting at a Taco Bell at 10pm eating a late dinner consisting of a Taco Supreme and Burrito Supreme. I was a full time student studying electrical engineering and a part time DJ at the university across the street. I was the first person to play VOW in the Central Valley of CA. I recall tearing open the wrapper of the promotional packaging. The CD was in a olive green metal capsule. Garbage had that different sound.
