I think the copyright issue wasn't the movie itself, it was the 2001 Space Odyssey parody at the end. That was removed in this version. Which makes sense, because I simply can't believe the movie's creators would actually want to invoke copyright instead of pretending this abomination isn't theirs.

Not quite. Also sparch Zarathustra by Strauss is public domain in the US because of its publishing date but not the UK because of the date of the Strauss' death in the 1940s. How I know, because I looked it up in the google search of this music's public domain state. Yeah, that really sucks for the UK copyright claim on a parody.

@@laroxiaparker9869 Pretty similar to Akira Toriyama when Dragon Ball Evolution was made. He WANTED to get involved to help with production, but they didn't get the memo, it seemed. And it was so bad he decided to make Battle of Gods! And eventually Super. But he did seem to like Piccolo's actor from that movie, or at least the guys who made the English version did, because Zamasu was played by said actor.

Though I REALLY hated this movie when I was a kid it had ONE good thing about it that basically no other movie had: He didn't get the girl. Not just didn't get her but they highlighted that she was actually a horrible person and was using him and when she came back (either planning to use him again or MAYBE she did actually decide she liked him now) he said NO because he realized she was an emotionally ugly and cruel person. To my knowledge not many movies of the time had this (especially when it was a woman being the user, there were maybe a handful that had men as the user but still rare even from that perspective). Hell I seem to recall a movie from the 80s that actually pissed me off because it was kind of the opposite (can't remember it exactly) but basically the girl was horrible, even contributed a bit to the bullying of the protagonist but when the protagonist beats villainous boyfriend she suddenly is into him and he wins the girl and accepts her sudden creepy change of heart EVEN THOUGH HE ALREADY HAD A FEMALE FRIEND WHO WAS A BETTER PERSON AND WAS INTO HIM! I can't remember what movie this was but it fucking pissed me off so much. But yeah, that's basically the ONLY thing I'll give this shit show of a movie credit for.

@@Shade571 I’ve actually come across a recent controversy about that actress’s age. Katie Barberi is obviously in this movie, as well as an extra in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as one of the bored Economics students. According a majority of the Internet, she was born on 01/22/1972 (though one website lists her birth year as 1971). Doing the math on it, she would have been 13 and 14 years old when Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was filmed an released, which are junior high ages. However, that scene is very clearly in a high school setting, and the actors in it are unmistakably much older than 13 and 14. For the Garbage Pail Kids movie, she would have been 15 at the time of filming and release, however, in one scene, she is very clearly seen driving a car with Dodger in the passenger seat, and the last time I checked, 15 year olds were not old enough to drive a car, let alone possess a driver’s license, ESPECIALLY in 1987. So I don’t believe Barberi was really born in 1972. I believe her real birth year is somewhere between 1967 and 1969, and that either her age was altered by her, a talent agency, or management company to help her gain employment and make her more appealing in Hollywood, or that the 1972 birth year was the result of some sort of clerical error or educated guess by someone who knew little about her and that information got spread around like wildfire.

@@ShyGuy83People can look older for roles aswell as Look younger for Roles, here she looks at least 16 years old , believe me there were girls in my year in High School who were 16 but looked over 18, but they were the tallest in my year She looks like she was born in 1970/1971 at best, which would make her 16/17 at the time of filming Garbage Pail Kids, 16 was and still is the legal age for driving in America so I think that makes more sense for her

You know what the crazy thing is? This movie could have been a horror movie. I mean I know it is a horror-ible movie, but I read somewhere, probably IMBD, that a director had the idea where toxic waste managed to ooze into a garbage pail and mutate dolls within them, turning them into psychotic murderers. I know that may seem out of place... but the source material was trading cards, with one that I recall had a GPK as an executioner, I think a horror movie based on these characters would have been awesome! And probably worth remembering than this piece of shit.

When ever my school has dress up as the 80's for homecoming (it comes up surprisingly often), I go to this movie for how to dress. The sad thing is that several of the clothes I wear for it I actually wear on a semi-regular basis, but, in my defense, I'm an art teacher and those 80's style dress shirts hide paint stains VERY well, since they are already clashing with themselves.

@ShyGuy83
@ShyGuy83 Жыл бұрын
I’ve actually come across a recent controversy about that actress’s age.
