They formed in Madison, Wisconsin, USA which is about 20min from where I live. I remember seeing them in the bars and clubs before they got Big. Always knew they were going to go somewhere.

Garbage. Great singer/band. Her idol is Chrissie Hynde from the PRETENDERS. That is the original new wave icon. You should check out the original Pretenders - such as "TATTOED LOVE BOYS" song - way ahead of its time..she was quite the role model for women rock singers.

Garbage - No Gods No Masters came out this summer they have been putting out a lot new songs

Yep, it was quite the album for sure. I still personally liked 2016's "Strange Little Birds" a little more than this one but "No Gods, No Masters" is definitely still a good album and it's awesome to see them making new music even though their 90s albums will always be iconic.

I love Garbage they were my band to listen to in the mid 90s to 2000s. I love this song also I Think I'm Paranoid is a great song by them. Shirley Manson is sooooo good. She gives her all to her performances.

I used to work for a&m records well almo records actually. In the 90s. Shirley Manson gave me a promo copy of their first album, like a white label edition. She is such a cool chick. And in the video for the song 'queer' ..she is absolutely mega hot... 😎🤘

This was a later performance and so lacked a bit of the energy from back in the day. But Shirley still is is one of Scotland’s finest (up there with Annie Lennox!), and once you’ve looked back through the Garbage catalogue have a look at Churches - a more recent Scottish group who carry on the Garbage mantle…

Ah it's always lovely to see more people giving Garbage a try. They're my number one favorite band and I've been a fan of them ever since I heard their song "As Heaven is Wide" on the PS1 game Gran Turismo back when I was a kid in the late 90s. Since you're open to hearing them play live, there are quite a few that I think I could recommend though I'm bias because I like 99% of their work lol. But here are some of my favorite live performances that I think are worth checking out ---- > Garbage - "Push it Live 2005 @Glastonbury" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3PXi3uYo9ONeLs ) I loved how she actually went out and interacted with the audience while maintaining her singing voice ) > Garbage - "Special" Live @ Letterman 1999 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnq2g3uFe86Jpq8 ) Her voice being amplified by the acoustics on this stage was just such a beauty to listen to. Plus her extra late 90s style aesthetic haha. > Garbage - "You Look So Fine" Live @ Musiqueplus 1998 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaiWlH9siNmcoNE ) One of my personal favorite songs of theirs but this performance was so beautifully done with again, really nice studio acoustics that amplified Shirley's voice. Also a rare moment of her playing guitar and just how she wails on it towards the end, I love it Garbage - "Vow" Live @ KROQ Weenie Roast 2012 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4jHaadshLqLhJI ) "Vow" is another one of my personal favorites and most performances of the song are great in my opinion but this one is actually one of my most favorites, especially when Shirley incorporates Patty Smith's "Because the Night" into the end, just beautiful. > Garbage - "Milk" Live @ London European Music Awards1996 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/d33Yi4Wpe8aLl9U ) The original version of the song is beautifully ethereal but the way they performed it here with a more trip-hop type of vibe was fantastic, it really complimented Shirley's more sensual style of singing that she occasionally did. Highly recommend. > Garbage - 4 Song Set @ Live for World Cafe 2021 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXTEpHennNdmf7M ) Just to show that they are still performing today and that Shirley still has some nice pipes. In this 4 song set she performs "No Gods, No Masters", "Wolves", "The Trick is to Keep Breathing", and "The Men Who Rule the World". All except "The Trick is to Keep Breathing" are songs from the band's current album that they released this current year of 2021 called "No Gods, No Masters" which I definitely recommend giving a try if interested in hearing what their new stuff sounds like. But yeah I thought I'd end with this one just to show that Shirley and the gang are still alive and kicking making and performing music 😊 Enjoy! 😄

Haven’t looked at any I’ve suggested yet, but have a new one. 1973 lonesome la cowboy by New Riders of the Purplesage. A very interesting time in rock history when there were new genres of rock coming to the forefront. This falls into country rock, such as groups like Marshall Tucker, The Band and some of Kansas. It’s these little known groups that have so many diamonds from,y glory days. Or you can always try Taj Mahal, Recycling the Blues & Other Related Stuff. If your feeling in a bluesy kind of mood.

First: Rebeka, your shirt fits you very well. You are definitely "authentic". I used to like Garbage back in the days for their unique sound and (of course) for Shirley Manson's voice. But they somehow disappeared. Anyway, "Stupid Gril" is a great, song, but this was probably not the best performance of it. Maybe in an open air situation, with a lot of people partying, the vibe would have been better.

But they're still around today! I actually saw them play with Alanis Morissette back in November this year. You are right though, after 2005 when they released their 4th album "Bleed Like Me", they disappeared from the music world and they didn't come back until around 2012 when they released their 5th album "Not Your Kind Of People" and more or less stayed somewhat active in the music scene since then. They tend to take 5 year breaks between albums but I'm surprised you would say such a thing when they released 2016's "Strange Little Birds" and 2021's "No Gods, No Masters", both very successful (in their own right) albums and were actually a return to form to their 90s sound.

Nice for this old bald white guy to see same, ROCKING, on the stage! However, IMO, the lead singer doesn't show much range, either vocally or emotively... Is that the best she's got? I'll check out the studio version, as you suggest.
