Fun fact, those power steering pumps are used on a ton of Fords from that era! They almost all make that cavitation noise. But I hear you can mitigate some of that by using a handheld vacuum pump to pull out as much air as possible. I haven't tested it on my truck yet, but I hear good things. Nonetheless, Jeff looks like a ton of fun! Love the video!

Have you ever thought about taking a look at a Lada Niva? They are just great, in production since 1977 with surprisingly little change (classic bumpers, no electrical door & trunk locks, etc.), they actually came with a crank as an alternative start method up to the mid 90s, you can even crank-start the more "modern" ones, but you have to drill a hole in the bumper lol. They are also pretty much indestructible and the high-low gearbox and differential-locks are actually quite useful.

If you want to make it a bit more lively, chuck a higher ratio diff in her. It probably has a really tall diff in it from factory and the quicker diff will liven it up nicely. Just remember to change out the speed sensor to match or else the ecu will think you are going way faster than you really are, and give you a fuel cut once it thinks you are doing top speed, even though you would be going a lot slower than that. Either way, nice car! Hope to see more of it :)

I used to hang around in my dad's garage since it was the only way I could like 'have a relationship' with him, since he wasn't interested in my stuff... and once I moved out I kinda never looked at it again, but this makes it look fun :3

@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley I work on modern fords five days a week, every single one of them has significant quality issues. Nothing on Stellantis but it's pretty bad. Most other manufacturers don't come close to the quality assurance issues I've encountered. No need to preach to the choir, I've seen it for myself. Edit to add: Don't forget that Explorer engines have catastrophic failure all the freaking time, remember that Platinum edition 2021 Explorer that went viral on reddit for exploding with less than one thousand miles on the odometer? extremely common issue.

5.0? Time for the Almighty B Cam! Also I think every 5.0 leaks oil. It's like a factory feature. Also the exhaust (when you bought it) is literally a non dual version of my 89 Mustang. My grandfather left the cats on it but took the mufflers off. Sounds so damn good.
