Reminds me of the time my dad's car started smelling real bad. I didnt know what it could be. Dad had gone noseblind, but man it was bad. I figured i dunno, maybe it was the plastic desintegrating eventually dad got really in there to deep clean it and lo and behold he found the source. at some point during a shopping trip, a bag had fallen over in the trunk, and a vacuum sealed plastic frozen fish pouch had slipped out and fallen between the rear seat and the trunk. and stayed there for weeks.

If I could, I'd take the upholstery of the original seats and take them to a laundromat with an industrial sized washer. In addition to detergent, dump in a 2L bottle of Coca-Cola. It's actually got insane cleaning potential from how the carbonation is. And it won't leave a smell unlike straight vinegar if you actually went that route. It's actually what I was told to do with military gear before I turned it in to the issuing facility. (They want it to be obviously clean, but not "suspiciously" clean)
