Van Life Families are a mess, and I'm here to for it. Let's dive into this weird, wacky world of RV, Camper Van, Trailer world in which parents give up their comfortable houses in the suburbs for a chance to travel the country full-time.

Imagine being in a RV that is so fucking horrible I wonder how do they even think their lives
@LivingDead53
@LivingDead53 Күн бұрын
That's not abuse, but I guess in your world. If you want change, get codes that a bus can only have x number of passengers. Many apartments have this rule too. As far as abuse, try a kid being molested by his brother and locking me in a cage to show me that boys are stronger than girls. I guess it's true. He ended up in a special school. He is probably brainless by now coloring and singing happy songs.. It makes me laugh when I think back to my special classmates. I can only imagine. Corey Johnson. Watch out for the guy in the sky. Born for games, right? My only complaint is that my relative is not in school and one parent is a white-pride, neo-nazi. who has almost killed me several times and gotten me in danger that he refuses to believe. He's the calm crazy as a mask. Calling CPS can cause major issues like foster care. I have also seen them coach parents on how to take care of their kids. An aid had been raised in a foster home but still saw her mother growing up.

All the speculation about that reddit post, which if it was true was written by some kid who has their whole life broadcast and was explicitly asking for privacy, leaves a bad taste in my mouth as well. I know, nothing's really private on the internet. And calling out channels that profit off child abuse and neglect is definitely important. But maybe we can leave those kids the little bit of privacy they have left, even if it's just an illusion.

I wonder if that was her way of punishing Addison - making sure her intimate struggles are out there for everyone and their mother to see and know as a means of making her just as embarrassed and ashamed as her parents feel. I watched these family travel vlog once and never again! The children were 7 or 8 years old. They arrived in Thailand late afternoon the day before. Next morning, they were filmed eating breakfast. They were filmed during the outing all day. Then they were filmed going to a night market at 9-10 pm at night. They looked exhausted. Meanwhile, dad tried to act cheerful, kept asking kids to talk to the camera not once concerned how hot and tired his kids were.

This is something I've particularly noticed with a lot of people who say they want to have "a baby" or "lots of babies". They like the idea of having a BABY, feeding, clothing, coddling, that sort of thing. Then, if you notice, as soon as that child hits toddler age, suddenly they're "having another baby!" They don't want CHILDREN, they want a BABY. It's like the people who want a PUPPY, but then when that puppy becomes an adult, back to the shelter it goes so they can adopt another puppy. The problem for these parents is when they realize that they can't do that with kids. Then the kids become an inconvenience.

Selling your cozy house in the suburbs, quitting your stable job and living in an RV can be a totally valid life choice, *if you make it for yourself or mabye together with your partner*. But dragging kids into this? Wtf. The kids of these families did not make an educated life choice for themselves, their parents decided for them and dragged them along. Kids need a stable environment much more than some adults do and this is the opposite. My parents actually have an RV and when I was a kid, I enjoyed it - for vacations! 3 weeks tops, usually less. It was fun and I liked our road trips, but after like two weeks I also felt very happy returning to our house and my room, with space and privacy and my friends and hobbies in town. The sheer thought of living like that full time as a kid is hell!

How does sharing to the world that your teenager is having a mental breakdown good for that teenager’s mental health? The mom could have instead said, “A break from Social Media is healthy from time to time. For the sake of my child’s happiness and well being, we will be taking a break from posting on Social Media.” She did not need to broadcast globally something so personal and traumatic for that teen.

I’ve seen a van life mother say if the kids were unhappy, they would tell the parents, and they’d “just buy a house”. But it will be hard for a kid to speak up under these circumstances. The parents are making a living off of the kids and “the life on the road.” The parents also always say the entire family is “happy“ and it is “wonderful to travel.” this sounds a bit like emotional manipulation.
@4kach24
@4kach24 3 ай бұрын
Yeah,I noticed this kind of manipulation growing up too. Agree. I would have different kinds of negative reactions towards situations and would show how they made me feel,but no one would question them, because I didn't explicitly say "It's making me uncomfortable/sad/etc" because I couldn't communicate properly. Those adults should take accountability and let kids be kids without disregarding their needs.

She said I can make the decision when im 18, It’s not torture but I would like a stable living situatio, school, and friends, I’ve had to lose all of these which led to diagnosed depression. Things like this need to be taken on a case by case basis. Firstly, there are many families throughout the world that live in a single room/studio house. My personal opinion is that vanlife is fine for young children and can be fun. I do think older kids and teens should have a more stable home if possible. I live in a van by choice. I’m a single mom and I waited until my youngest went to college before doing this. I also had to work three jobs just to pay the rent on a one bedroom apartment. So I can see why some families may not have a choice. Having a “stable” job is not that easy anymore. I should mention my main job was a career profession and I could still not make rent with it………… that being said, a lot of the examples you are showing are different. 10 kids in one camper is absurd. Family van bloggers is a bit of a red flag. My concern with this video is you are promoting judging people with kids in a camper without knowing the specifics.

I won't use public restrooms and I want a seating area and a bed, but don't want to have to convert it every morning and night, so this is the perfect build for me. I would use different materials and maybe do a murphey bed instead of electric, but I love their bathroom. If you search concrete oasis, there are a bunch of videos. Addison having an eating disorder is 100% their parent's fault. Like many parents strengthen this redirect towards kids even if it's not that they have autism. Afrid is common with autism but in their situation food is probably the only thing they can ever control. Like it prob feels like everything is spiraling out of control. Nothing is stable about their environment which is absolutely terrible for autism. All the fear of a new sensory problem coming up. I wish them well. Their mom clearly does not understand

The most interesting part I find about this “lifestyle” is how the parents are always the only ones doing the talking. We had no furniture when our mother bought our home and for the first six months, we had to sleep on the floor. Now that I am an adult, I am proud of my mother for doing what she could on her own to make a safe home for us. When I see two parent, well to do families willingly subject their children to living in cramped spaces with no furniture not out of necessity but for clout, I feel disgusted. In most of theses vanlife families squeeze their kids into such cramped spaces but they make sure that the parents have a spacious room/bed.

VENT. TRIGGER WARNING. I was the daughter in a van family for 3 years (2018-2021) and overall it didn't seem too bad. My little brother (around 7-10 at the time) slept in a pullout in the living room/dining room/kitchen, and me and my older brother got a bunk room and my parents slept in a fullsized bedroom. However, my older brother r@ped and sa'd me constantly over that 3 year period under the guise that it was normal for boys to explore boundaries. I told my parents a couple months ago and they said they KNEW and that my older brother was simply curious and I was too young to get pregnant so there was nothing to worry about! They are having trouble grasping why exactly those were my least favorite years since we grew 'so close' as a family. I am now 15 and no longer talk to my older brother or my mother unless absolutely necessary. Even worse, my younger brother has told multiple people about his crush on me. I'm very concerned, but my parents still say it's normal for boys to have crushes and I should think nothing of it. He, 13 now, take photos of me while I sleep and purposefully stands behind me when I bend over to pick things up. I believe he's been influenced by the life in the RV. Additionally, while in the RV, none of us had any friends. Zero. We saw Maine, sure, but I missed critical points in my life so that I could hike in a forest and let my older brother touch me. I'm very bitter about the experience, sorry for the vent. Please do not force your kids into a van.

Is there anyone you can talk to about this? Family, teachers, the police? What you’re going through is absolutely terrible. This is a serious problem, not just the van life, but your parents and your brothers’ behaviour and attitudes as well. Your parents have created an environment where these things are normal. They’re not. I seriously hope you consider telling the authorities about your situation. Whether it’s a doctor, or social worker. Anyone. I wish you well, I hope things get better in the future.

Ok also to add to the 12 person family. Do not let babies sleep on their stomach. This can raise the chances of sudden infant death syndrome. Lay them on their backs. I recommend Dr. Niky MD as she is a board certified pediatrician who warns against this practice.
@wayasaunooke3424
@wayasaunooke3424 Ай бұрын
SIDS is not because of that. It's just not. There is a 70% rate of something happening to babies in the prior 48 hours before they pass, but many people don't want to research this themselves. Healthy babies don't just die, and if you're suggesting it's because of how they sleep you are severely mistaken- why doesn't that happen to toddlers? Animals? Sick and weak people? The elderly? There is a common link, there are thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of sworn accounts from paramedics, nurses, doctors and coroner's who all say what the link is; who all know what causes this. And we do an injustice to these babies by blindly trusting a doctor and not listening to the parents and professionals who have risked their career to speak the truth. Healthy babies don't just die. Something happens to them in the day/s before.

The reason why I don't watch van life vlogs with kids in it. I only watch single people or couples without kids, as I'm amazed how they make it so spacious for them. I'M FASCINATED WITH VAN LIFE AND PROBABLY WILL TRY IT SOMEDAY, BUT NOT WITH KIDS. Forcing them to live in such tiny spaces without privacy, is suffocating and I believe is a form of abuse.

My mom has a Van that she uses for occasional camping, and she loves it. It has great luxuries and it's comfortable for her. Technically it sleeps 3, because it has a double bed and the dinette becomes a single bed. My husband and I have spent a weekend camping with her every so often, and it's lovely (we all love the outdoors and enjoy "roughing it" from time to time), but I cannot imagine having 3 human beings in that Van full-time. It would drive me crazy. And all these kids are still developing, finding their voice, finding their personality, finding themselves...and now they can't even have the privacy to figure themselves out. It might look "nice" for social media, but I bet it sucks big-time for everyone involved.

She says she doesn’t wanna invade my privacy :’) Thankfully the house we’re in rn she does have a room.

My dad was living the van life when I was a kid. He picked a place for us to live and let me go to school during the year, but in the summers we lived in the van. People think my life was great. I hated it. I just wanted to stay with my friends. Days consisted of holding my pee because he never wanted to stop, and eating mostly fast food. Sometimes we would stop to take pictures and spend a couple minutes at a place. At night I slept in the passenger seat leaned back as much as I could, or in a tent. We stayed at a lot of campgrounds that had showers run by quarters. Dad gave me 2 for a shower so I had to use the first one to get all wet while the water was still freezing cold, then soap everything up with the water off, and then rinse as best I could in the cold - tepid water from the second quarter. Laundry was done in rest stop sinks in front of everyone, or in rivers or wherever we could. People really don't understand how bad the day to day life like that is. It's a small step above being homeless.

Children really need more rights a citizens in this country. They deserve a right to privacy, a proper education, and space! They deserve stability and real friendships. This is child abuse, and it’s right in front of our eyes. These kids all need to have their money accounted for (if they are featured, they earned their share), and then we need to make showing kids under 18 online without their consent illegal. These people are all so fake, and no child could be happy living like this. Having a camper for family vacations is wonderful, just like coming home to your own room and bed friends are, except these poor kids never go home.

Then my family decided to buy an RV to "save" money because my dad's boss sold the freaking company he worked at and he didn't wanna settle for anything less than what he deserves. I respect my parents, they've made sacrifices, but so did I, and they don't seem to understand that.- -Is it so hard to listen to your kids for once? Don't my feelings matter?
