You've gotten me so excited for spring! I've wanted to do this for 3 yrs. A quiet nook in the shade near my large vege gardens so I can take a break in comfort not sit on a stump. 😅

Number 2 with a free standing garden swing. So relaxing slowly rocking with a cup of coffee or glass of wine!

I’m glad you do these little projects. Since we all can’t have a Michelle to make our little nooks, it certainly does inspire me to see places on our property that I could have a similar experience. Keep those ideas coming, only 58 days until spring!

Thank you for the design ideas. I like the location with the view of your beautiful garden. I think the secret garden would be better for the back of the red she shed. So many great ideas. I like to add annuals for the same reason as you. I appreciate that you braved that cold. I stayed inside.😂

I really love when you do these design videos. I learn so much, and it is so inspiring! And it helps that you are in my zone and not too far away. You just gave me something to do this long winter! I also have to comment on your sign in the background - It's a Wonderful Life. If you bought that in the Sycamore area, I think my dad made it. Thanks again for all the inspiration!

Love the garden nook plan . 😁 I’d do it in both the first and second locations you showed . In the first location - I’d do a mirror image of it so that the red bud would be close to the arborvitae. I am so excited to see it completed . 😁😁😁 and I am very curious to see the eventual secret garden area . Thanks for braving the cold for us . We are in Michigan and it’s super cold here too right now . Bbrrrrrrr…..

Love your designs. I wish I had come across your videos when I built my house. I had a landscape designer from a local reputable landscape nursery do a whole house landscape design after I moved in. Unfortunately, I think she just threw something together over a weekend because it showed. I went with it because I could not wait to get a design from another company. I have regretted it to this day.

Nice design! I would like to mention that Maples are super hard to grow under, especially hostas! They have fibrous surface roots that suffocates them! For that reason, i wouldn’t t use that spot for your design :)
@gardeningTLC8 күн бұрын
I have had success with hostas under maples, but that is a great point to remember! It depends on the variety and location of the tree.

Could you use a heading cut on the Pom Pom redbud to keep it smaller?
@gardeningTLC8 күн бұрын
You could but it will produce more lateral growth and you might or might not like the look of your flattop tree. If you are going to do it, make the cuts right after it is done blooming.
@marlysray86838 күн бұрын
I suggest your second option, your first one under a maple tree is like the worst place to plant as maple trees take all the moisture. Been there done that.

Oh Michelle. You're a social person. I am not. I'd take that design and just turn it 180 degrees...evergreens screening along the sidewalk, my back to them in my lounge chair facing the house, closing me off from the world and all those lovely flowers and plants laid out before me. I just need a mosquito net canopy over head and a nice fan...and air conditioning...on second thought Iowa weather isn't good enough to sit out in, ever...lolol
