I started as a gardener. KZbin then told me to watch you and MD. Fast forward six months, I have nine fish tanks, 3 small bait jars growing cultures, and before the end of the summer I hope to have a pond near my vegetable garden. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing.

You could do the 'bucket' ponds. I rent as well and have 3 largish 'bucket' ponds--no filters or pumps, just plant. They have been running for years.

I have a 2500 gallon pond built by Gerard Touhey. He has fabulous videos! My pond has massive filtration, 2 waterfalls, no stagnant areas, and lots of plants. My water is crystal clear. Remember we do not keep fish, we keep water. My water values are spot on and my KH needs adjusting here and there. To learn more about pond building look up Gerard Touhey the happy crazy Irish pond builder. He flies around the world building ponds for folks.

Hi im a lady fishkeeper, ive just finished redigging , laying pond liner and making it slightly wider my pond from a reformed pond it was hard work. It took me a week but my fish are now happier with a bit more swimming space. My husband also likes it and hes not a gardener hes more techy.

Always a win for wildlife when any new pond is installed. After a little experiment I reckon there’s a market for some kind of pond version of clip and grow product used for plants in aquariums

Totally agree! Some companies produce products called overgrowing mats which are material and roll down the side of a pond.

Nice looking pond! I'm a bit confused how that bypass works with a single way valve. the pump isn't too strong to overcome the gravity feed and still give you a small amount out of your water feature?

Also kitsch really takes away from ponds instead of adding to them. I love the occasional tacky item just like anyone else, but every time I add something like that to my outdoor projects, I always regret it. Now I resist the urge to use them.

I don't know if you did or not but pleaaase tell me you siliconed/sealed the inlet and outlet tubes to and from the filter? I don't want you experiencing bad leaks in time to come!! Cool video, i'm in the process of building a nature pond without a pump for my parents at the moment, aim is to get a perfect balance of oxygenators and marginals! Would love to see you do something similar although i aporeciate it can be exoensive deoending on liner choice!!

Yeah all the joins are sealed and the filter has seal rings on the inlet and outlet so no worries there. I always find with planting a pond that I just keep adding plants until the water runs clear. As long as you have a good variety of mariganls, oxygenators and deep water planting you should cover all bases for wildlife.

It's around 30 years old if not older and we believe it has a slow leak. When we got it out and I touched the base it was super thin and sounded like it would crack.
