Garden Hose Repair with 3D Printing Magic

Today I 3d Print the parts needed to repair a broken garden hose. Specifically, I had to cut the end off of my perfectly good garden hose after using it to tunnel under a sidewalk to route some drip irrigation. I initially started by ordering a brass replacement part that unfortunately didn't fit.
Fortunately 3d printing to the rescue, I was able to find this part on Thingiverse, and we see if it gets the job done! www.thingivers...

I just started printing couplers for my hose. I falled twice, but your video has given me the steps for round three!

Boil water in the microwave with a coffee mug then stick the cut portion of the hose into the hot water to soften it for 30 sec or so. That fitting will go on with ease and without lubrication. I really like practical 3D prints! Nice video.

I've seen others use a swaging tool to stretch out vinyl tubing, I wonder if it would work here.

Any reason you didn't cut the end of the hose off square before attaching it to your coupling? Seems like having that fairly square would help everything seat better and have more even stresses on the part.

No reason, just completely forgot to do it ahead of time. I agree though that it would be best to square it off.

Can you do a 3d print of a compressor hose? For example a bicycle pump are a smaller hose which for some reason home depot and other hard ware store don't sell.

Your print would be much stronger if you were to print it on it's side. Otherwise it could de-laminate because of the orientation of the layers.

I considered that, and after a month it is still holding strong. It's printed at 100% solid infill, and solid infill is rectalinear, so it should have fairly solid structure with the layer striations as least being two dimensional. If it ever does have issues, I agree that sideways may be a good answer.

Why don't you print it a bit smaller so it will fit?

What I should have done is heat the hose with hot water. The size was pretty on point once properly installed.
