Digging up dandelions from the lawn is a pain...until now! I've finally found something that is actually effective, so I've made this video share it with you.

Why are you bending over, mate? These tools are intended to eliminate the need to do that. If you can't get good results without bending over to see where to stick it into the ground, what's the use?

Hmmmm, are they? Or are they designed to effectively remove weeds with tap roots? I'd say it's the latter. You don't need to bend down by the way, I've just found that this approach helps me get centered on the plant more easily. This gives me a much higher success rate at getting the root than I did it more vaguely. It's an each to their own sort of thing I think, this works well for me, but I'm also trying to get smaller weeds out I guess. For big mature dandelions then you probably don't need to bend down to see the centre mass.

Would this pull up small bits of grass coming through a new flower bed, or would it need a chunkier weed to grab onto?

That's an interesting question. In my experience of using it I'd say it works well on the lawn due to the very compacted nature of the soil, so it can do it's trick or taking a plug out of the ground. In my beds I'd say the soil is too loose for that to happen. It could well loosen it enough for you to be able to release the grass from soil, but I wouldn't think it would extract it. Does that make sense?
