🤩 Totally off topic, but this weekend while I was roaming around our local nursery, buying up a storm, someone approached me and asked me if I was friends with Laura? Realizing we were both wearing “Garden Answer gear” of course I said yes, via KZbin. We both laughed and introduced ourselves. What a joyful moment. Afterwards the owners daughter approached me, wanting to know “Who is Garden Answer?” so I explained- Now, she’ll be catching the GA vibe. 🤩💖

Aww...I love the idea of leaving some daffodils 🌼 for your neighbors. This year my Beloved husband & I are experimenting with sowing seeds. Which we’ve never done before & are excited that most seeds are coming up! My husband walks a street ministry and ministers to the homeless & those who struggle with addiction. Part of the team makes homemade soups & stews & we’re planning on giving those who cook, a portion of our harvest so that they can make homemade meals and give from the heart. I So appreciate the heart of giving back. 💛

Good morning !Totally off topic . My granddaughters Sophia who is four , Charlotte 18 months old , and daughter in law went to a Nursery Open House on Saturday, April 17 . It was a beautiful day in Hicksville , Ohio . I had worked the morning and was so excited to have an afternoon girls day out ! I was introduced to Garden Answer last year in March by sister . She told me I think you would enjoy and learn so much . So I started watching since I had time off work . I quickly became addicted! We have five acres of land always enjoyed container gardening but now due to gaining knowledge and more enthusiasm because of you I stepping out of my comfort zone. adding a cut flower garden and adding more to landscaping and it is very exciting time of the year. Oh so back to granddaughters they are also are enjoying looking and loved the greenhouse outing . Sophia was looking at tags is able to read symbols of which plants are for full sun , no sun and part sun . While waiting line to pay for plants I handed the girls the Proven Winners idea book . Sophia was going through it and said , “look Nana it is your favorite person Laura . “ I loved her statement . So Laura thank you for sharing all your knowledge and information . The last year has been a difficult year . I have found a new passion for gardening it may not be grand or the best but I am making it my own with a wealth of information from you and your husband love him too ! Thank you again !

I'm glad to see other comments on Berried Treasure... and I was so glad to hear Laura say it. I had 2 seeds germinate and I did freeze them for 4 weeks. They are the smallest, most coddled seedlings I have and I fully expect them not to make it. I'm a bit disappointed but now at least I know it wasn't likely something I did wrong. I only hope my garden center has them this year. The established plants look easy to grow!

I grew berried treasure strawberries from seed this year too and all 16 seeds germinated in less than 7 days. I did cold stratify them for 3 weeks in the refrigerator. Unfortunately only one lonely plant survived because damping off swept through 😭😭. But I’ve learned a lot this year. After that I mixed cinnamon in the soil and on top after sowing all my other seed varieties I’m starting this year. I also only water with cooled chamomile tea. So far I have not had the damping off problem again.

Tuscaloosa/Northport here. No daffodils but I had to cover my 3 hydrangeas in March because of the freeze. I just planted them last year so they are baby plants. 2 plastic buckets and a cardboard box did the trick. LOL! Such a stylish look in the flower bed but it worked and the hydrangeas are looking good and greening out. I moved to AL at the end of 2019 so last year was a learning curve for me as to what grows well plant and shrub wise in the south. So different than in the cold northern climate. The grass in the lawn is a different animal too. I'm use to taking care of KY Bluegrass and not Bermuda grass. Very different grasses with very different care.

Laura, I hope you see this comment: I tried the PW Berried Treasure seeds in both seed starting trays and milk jug mix. I found that all of those that germinated in the milk jugs damped off and died, while those that were in seed starting cells did wonderfully. I germinated straight from the packet from PW, and the rest I put into the freezer for a few days is all. Had great germination!

I can totally relate to moving pots around. I use the Worx Wheelbarrow/Garden Cart. The cool thing about this is that you can use it, obviously, as a wheelbarrow and then adjust it to a dolly. It also has a sling adjustment which works best for larger pots and for boulders too.

To combat the uneven growing of the daffs and tulips in pots, perhaps you could turn the pots every so often in the spring. Then the heat and sunshine would hit them a little more evenly. Not possible with your large drip pots, but might work with some of the smaller pots. Love those concrete pots - stunning!

One more comment please. I think Benjamin would love to swing. My great-nieces have swings from tree branches and they have a grand time swinging. Reminds me of my childhood......

I did a bulb container this winter. It was such fun. Bulbs with pansies on top since fall then I planted the pansies in the ground once they came up in spring. I'm in zone 7 so my tulips are all done already

Those pots look gorgeous! I checked the description for a link to the pot dolly, but didn’t see one. Could you please let us know which brand it was? Also, I just received a pair of Felco 231 lever action loppers...OMG they are wonderful!!! I’m a completely different person since finding your channel a year ago. Thank you for helping me find my inner joy💗🌸💗

I did put my Buried Treasure strawberry seeds in the freezer for the required time and had 9 of the 16 red seeds germinate but only three or four of the pink and white. Appears to be a pour germination rate for this years seeds. Also a couple seeds just came up this past week so maybe they take a long time and will continue to pop up.

I LOVE the pots outside the cold frame, specifically the cluster on the left. if it were me I’d order a cluster to permanently sit there 😉😁

I had the same problem with my seeds for the berried treasure strawberries and when I emailed PW, they said their experts have changed their minds about needed to stratify them first. They sent me a new packet of each (excellent customer service!) and I had better success sowing them the second time without stratifying them.

Good morning! I live in zone 5, upstate NY and all of my winter sowing failed 😢. I did start seed inside which are doing well, minus cat interference lol but I guess Ill have to try again next year 😉💪🏼. Thank you for giving me confidence and showing perseverance Laura!!

I’m zone 5 northern Michigan. My winter sowing is just sprouting now. I’ve found that keeping them on the south side of the house, next to the siding, helped this spring. I can’t plant until the end of May, so I still have time for them to get some size.

@@barbaramccann7944 I do have them on the south side next to my house.. maybe I just have to be patient, lol. Theyre still in their spots so Ill give them time, thanks!

got your exercise in with all those pots! it is something to be grateful for when you have the health and stamina to do some of the heavier chores around the garden, and i am thankful for that... i'm going to have to try to control myself on my intended daffodil order next year, lol... daffys do much better here than tulips since we don't get that cold during the winter so i want to up my daffy game, but oh my word... i have a tiny yard, so i have to have some control, lol... they are lovely... i tried the winter sowing and was a complete failure so i haven't tried it again; i think yours did really well! always love seeing Benjamin and Russell out keeping you company, too... looked like a really nice day to be outside! thanks for the video!!

I'm hoping those seeds that blew away will provide flowers in random places all over the new property. Fun surprises.

Thank you for saying that you had heard the people were having issues germinating Berried Treasure Strawberry seeds. I put my seed packet in the freezer for a couple of months before I planted them and today is 3 weeks since I planted them in a container outside and I have seen no growth. I will wait a week or two before I give up and go buy plants from my local garden center, but I was so looking forward to having them after hearing about them on your channel.

I really love that cluster of 3 stone containers, by that entrance. I agree with you that it's just enough and they pair so we'll together.

In Cincinnati zone 6a with our winter moisture I had to protect my bulb planters from excessive water with Tyvek (breathable covering for houses) and burlap. The freeze/thaw of our climate didn’t work with the smaller containers. And most tulips are annuals for us, summer rain and irrigated landscapes are the death of tulip bulbs, 1 great year and 2 mediocre at best. Books and local nursery owners gave me the heads up.
