After watching this video, I wanted to share a trick my awesome husband figured out. We just finished installing drip to our containers and of course I already had them potted up, so we had to run the 1/4" tubing on the outside of the pots this year. In order to keep that tubing in place, he used binder clips (the black ones typically found in an office) to hold the tubing in place. He ran the tubing through the silver part of the clip, then just clipped it to the side of the container- genius!!!💖💖💖 He used the mini size, but they have any size you need for your containers. It has been fabulous!!

Good video. Drip irrigation is easy, relatively inexpensive, and efficient. It’s also very forgiving - there are no mistakes that can not be easily remedied. 😅 I just set up a similar system for the 12 planters along our back patio tapping off of a hose spigot with a splitter with a Bluetooth controlled timer, and a similar setup with the backflow preventer, pressure regulator, and filter. 💦💧Thank you, to both of you! We literally just finished a very large drip system on our veggie, herb and flower garden, we had leaks just about everywhere, from the timer, and further down. I didn’t realize that there were two different types, pipe thread and hose thread, cause I didn’t set that part up, my husband did. He said he did realize this, but thought it didn’t really matter much, but like Aaron said, the more you crank on them to get rid of the leaks, you ruin the threads. We will now get the adapters, from hose thread to pipe thread, and hopefully solve our leaking mess! Also, just the complete overview was really informative, as there are so many different ways to set up a drip system. Thanks again, for explaining every step, and in such wonderful detail! I love all of your videos, as they are jam packed with great information, and fun too, but this one really hit at the right time for us, and was really a huge help. 💧💦

What great timing. Just yesterday I was telling a friend that I need to get a plumber to fix my leaky toilet so instead of coming for just that simple job wouldn’t it make sense to get him to change the garden faucet so it splits off then I could run one hose to the beds and another longer hose across the ground to where I keep my little plot of containers for all my vegetables (at least 80% of the backyard is concrete) and I could even stretch the budget a bit and put them all on drip, just as Laura do!! My friend said sure, that’s easy enough and a very doable DIY that “WE” can tackle!! Now, after watching (and re-watching) you go at it my head is still spinning and the glaze in my eyes haven’t cleared - if this ever becomes a reality Mr. Plumber/Handyman or some other expert will have to take charge and put it in place for me!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Where do you get the thread adapter female to female hose to irrigation fitting, it's white in the video?
@mukthatumkur33243 жыл бұрын
@anand bagmar That's right, you have to put the teflon tape in a clockwise direction when you hold the pipe in front of you. This way, when you put your fitting on which is also in the clockwise direction, you won't bunch up the tape. If you put the tape on in a counterclockwise direction, when you put a fitting on, it will bunch up because you are essentially moving the fitting against the direction that the tape is lying. There are several YT videos on this....

I appreciate how you explained of how each situation will need to be different. Not because one is better then another but because thats just the nature of the project. Saying how you will need to stand in the hardware aisle and see what they have and giving brief examples was very helpful. Often I see people only mention it in passing which often comes across as "you could do it other ways but I am doing to show you the best way", as they proceed to copy what you have exactly.

Love this! I just installed drip irrigation myself this year and I was very intimidated at first, but it got easier the more I did it. Just a tip if you have to garden while it's hot and sunny out and there isn't any shade - I have an old patio umbrella and umbrella base that I plop down wherever I need some shade so I can work in the garden and not burn up under the hot sun. 😊

It’s been three years I’ve wanted to run a drip system for my garden. Every time I think about it, I think of you and your wonderful video of how to. This will be the year. Thank you for showing us how easy it is.

Thank-you really enjoyed your explaining because I bought tons of supplies this winter to do my wholeyard , but I was missing some education so I don't mess it up.

It wasn’t confusing for me because I’m right in the middle of putting my pots and raised beds on drip and I’ve already pretty much sorted it out. But as I watched, I thought that it would have been helpful to see one setup done from water source to pot emitters. Then go back and deal with the variables. Your previous videos have helped me SO much. I really impressed the guys at the sprinkler store with my knowledge of terms and understanding of the sequencing 😊. Thanks.

Thank you SOOOOO much. You sold me on drip, both in ground and pots, when I started watching you a few years ago. "Sold", but getting to it has been another story. I bought and started to set up some things last year, but still don't have it going. Everything for me will have to be off a faucet. I have a HUGE, LONG line of pots I do, as well as my in ground stuff. I've watched several of your videos on this, more than once. This one is a great help (so were the others) and once again gets me motivated to get it done. Hand watering is just killing me(time-wise) and I can't keep consistent enough. And I always have to have someone come take care of stuff for vacation. If I could get my drip going, I'd still need someone, but it would be so much easier for them.

Wow guys. This is the video I’ve been waiting for. You know Aaron - you can put together an irrigation drip kit for beginners and sell it. I would buy one. Having everything needed in one kit would be less scary for people like me. You could totally market this as we become more sustainable. Thank you guys. This was awesome. Saving it to my videos.

After watching some of your videos in the past about setting up drip, I successfully set it up for my containers in the front of my house! I felt so proud of myself and it was all thanks to you showing me how and giving me the confidence to tackle something new! THANK YOU! Now, this video helped me understand the drip tubing (and where to get it - thank you for the links!!) so that I can be as successful in setting it up for my hanging baskets on my back deck. I've got a new project and just in time for our July vacation! Thank you, Laura, Aaron, (and et al) for being so incredibly helpful!!

Cannot give you both enough kudos for this video!!! Our new home has no irrigation set up and some plants are suffering for the lack of water. I was JUST thinking two days ago that a temporary hose-connected irrigation system would be the ideal solution, and boom, along you guys come with a helpful, detailed explanation. And a great attitude about all the work involved to boot. I don't know you guys but I love you! Thank you.

I love your work! You've inspired us to create our own garden oasis. So much so that my husband built post planters for me! Everyday my husband and I just stare at all the flowers! Thanks soooo much for this video! I just shared it with my husband.

Super helpful showing this connecting to a faucet, which is my situation...there were a few projects for friend's homes when you did this too, but here you really broke it down. I feel like I can have full confidence in putting my front beds on drip! Thank you so much GA! My hydrangeas especially thank you!

Good morning, Laura ☕️ @ClausDalby will be impressed with your pot placements! They’re going to look amazing 🤩 You make running drip 💧 so easy! Aaron made a good point; to stand in the isle and find the correct fittings. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈

Haha. You don’t have it for full power 😂😂😂Thank you for showing each step. This is how most of our small gardens uses this system. And genius tip on using the tape and garden stake. 👍

Thanks Laura and Aaron for a video that saved me lots without much effort! I found my roll of Teflon tape and the hose washers that had collected and now: no leaks! I am going to , with the help of this video, try my hand at drip irrigation, why not? I love every video, but sometimes the scale is so massive I think, well, this isn’t for me! This one had my name on it!

You are a phenomenal teacher! Not only do you explain, but you demonstrate as well. I am now putting in drip and fixing drip on my own thanks to you and Erin. Also, you make learning fun, so I want to go out into my garden and try new things. You’re a true inspiration!

Your channel is so awesome. I learn so much and get great information on how to fix my problems. My faucet is so close to the ground it’s a struggle to even get my hose splitter attached much less my hoses. Boom!!! Use an elbow. You saved the day. No more struggling with hoses at the beginning of every year.

Soooo much I love about this video. Laura explaining the irrigation techniques, showing women everywhere that they can do this themselves. Excellent explanation by the way. So many different scenarios explained. Giving the reason to all the why's. So many tips and tricks. I'm so grateful for you and Aaron sharing all your experience and knowledge. I watch every day.

I'm living my garden life vicariously through you! I live in Phoenix Arizona so we are very limited in what we can grow here.. although you might be impressed with the few plants I have nursed along in this heat. Someday I will move to a cooler climate so I can have hydrangeas! LOVE your videos!! Keep em coming!!

Perfect timing. I have watched every one of your irrigation videos and ordered everything I needed (I hope) in order to get my enclosed garden I just finished building all set up, along with my flower bed out front. My drip just came today and I can't wait to get it all set up and efficient! Thanks for all the inspiration and tips I never would have even thought to use drip before watching your videos and realizing it's not as complicated as it may have seemed before.
