Random thoughts for the day. I admire your work ethic - finish chores and then go have fun. I probably would have dropped everything to check out the new trees. Every time I see the amount of work that goes into growing crops I have a deeper respect for the farmers who provide us food to table. It’s the wonder of children that they stop by their parents for a little snuggle and then head back off to what they were doing. Such a joy. Thanks for taking us along!

The wasp sounds and looks like a Common Blue Mud Dauber, WHICH prey on BLACK WIDOW SPIDERS to feed their larvae, which I know you've said you all have, and then they, themselves, feed on the nectar of flowers. They are very pretty! Loved the little cuddle time with Benjamin, so sweet! I am a huge fan of evergreens, so I'm loving your tree choices, especially the Weeping Alaskan Cedar! God bless!

You even asked us to remind you that!!! Do yourself a favoure and change that tape!!!!! 🤣😅😅😅😂 I had a similar experience as you with my onions this year. They did not come up and those who did were fast covered with aphids. So, I filled the empty cells with marigolds and when they came up, so did the onions...... talk about crazy plants..... Crop rotation will reduce pests and diseases. By moving veges around and mixing with flowers, you can benefit the soil and are adding nitrogen by just planting veges, like beans. Corn and beans grow well as companion plants with calendula or nasturtium underneath, to attract pollinators and beneficial insects that will lay eggs in not so good insects, larvae. Planting beans up corn will save space and time and water. Check out companion planting when you can.😊

That wasp looks like a Tarantula Hawk, if I'm not mistaken. We have lots of those here where I am, in the Central Tx Hill Country. They're very interesting creatures! They can carry, and fly away with extremely heavy prey compared to their own size! For example - the Tarantula! Altho, I must admit, I prefer to have the Tarantulas avoid those flying beauties! Even though most people are afraid of Tarantulas, as I once was, after I educated myself about them, they're really nothing to be afraid of. They're actually more afraid of me than I am of them! Tarantulas are quite docile spiders, and they can live a VERY LONG Time! They're very welcome in my landscape, and they're a good spider to have in my garden too! So when it comes to the Tarantula Hawk vs. the Tarantula, I cheer for the Tarantula to keep living every time! (The T.Hawk can survive on many other insects too, so there's that!)
