I think that making the back garden a secret space, would stop you from using it, just like before. If you keep it open and inviting then I think it will naturally be used more. The Hartley area looks wonderful!
@themainer1267
@themainer1267 Жыл бұрын
I agree with that completely. A stand of carefully placed trees, no shrubs, would block the view of neighbors but be open and unobstructing to the Hartley. A beautiful carpet of green lawn, the only perennial there, and cradling a beautiful pond and bridge. A wonderful combination of manicured and natural. Really simple and pared down. A rest for the eyes.

I agree. I personally think keep that space open and inviting. You can still create a cozy, "secret space" type of feel with plant choices, but keep the front open.

Completely agree. I always disliked the triangle garden and the fence so seeing it all open now brings it all together. The opportunity to make an amazing view from the Hartley is there.

Some people get up in the morning and turn on the news, what a terrible way to start the day. I get up, make coffee, turn on my computer and watch Garden Answer. What a beautiful way to start my day. You have me totally "hooked" with your enthusiasm and positive outlook. I always feel like you're speaking directly to me and can't tell you how much I appreciate your informative videos. I'm lucky enough to not live that far away from Andrews Seed and Garden Center and have "visited" several times. All the best to you, Aaron, your children and your extended family for years to come.

Breath taking drone footage! It's so nice to see how captivated you are with your space. You are the poster child of gratitude. A few years ago I moved from the city to the country.You have taken me from "hmmm maybe I'll plant a few things outside" to having a hobby (some might say obsession) that I absolutely love. You make it fun to experiment and be okay if things don't work out as "planned" - I absolutely love it and you are a big part of why. Thank you. Jo

Wow, wow, wow! So pretty. I know you have previously said it's something you don't want in your garden, but when you were talking about your plans for what was previously going to be the secret garden all I could see there was a swing set and 'climbing fort' with slides for the kids, surrounded by beautiful plants. I loved the video you posted of Samantha Grace running around with her cousins and extended family around (when you had the amazing charcuterie caterer in). I can just imagine Benjamin and Samantha Grace chasing around a play area with their cousins, squealing and laughing. Now that's a good sound to have in a garden!

Ok Laura & Aaron I'm emotionally invested here... PLEASE keep the corner open behind the Hartley for your large water feature! Such a brilliant idea! I think that would be such a magnificent backdrop and become more inviting to walk over there. I'm all for "secret garden rooms" to explore but since you have those types of pockets on the new property I feel so strongly that closing that area up is a missed opportunity to make it a WOW moment behind the house paired with the Hartley. It would look so grand! Imagine that dynamic view from the house! 🤩

I've had a cracked screen on my phone for a couple of months and usually watch the videos on my phone with my morning coffee. I had to re-watch the end of this video on my computer screen for full color and no lines on my screen haha! Congrats on such a vision coming to life!! I hope after the bulbs you will take a little break and enjoy it even more!!

Laura, you are getting everything you wanted and more. Consider giving Aaron his rose garden in the area between the Hartley and the driveway. Planting those tall columnar trees on each side would create a wonderful fragrant rose room for him. It is his turn now.

I love your way of planning, Laura. To know how a space FEELS is so important, and with a 2D drawing, it's just not the same. I fully support that way of rolling 😬😍

To quote the famous Miss Piggy, "Oh! Oh! I'm so happy for me!" Laura, your joy is my joy! I am thrilled to see your creations (can't wait for spring!) and I am so inspired by you! My yard thanks you and you helped me discover my passion of gardening as my children began leaving the nest. I thank you and Aaron from the bottom of my heart!

❤ It looks like the children were excited too and wanted to be in the ‘thick of it’! The transformation of your property over the last several years has been mind blowing, and I am so proud of you all. It has made me think bigger about my own 9/10 acre, Zone 7a landscape. You have been so inspirational, and I thank you so much!

Why no English roses? I think they would look nice in the space.

I agree roses would be great near there. She already has roses on the chicken coop. Perhaps she will expand on that rather than planting a line of evergreens to conceal the chicken coop from view.

What a beautiful space that is❣️I’m like you Laura it is all about how you feel in the space, most important thing to me anyway! So satisfying to watch this space come together. You will have so many wonderful memories in the years to come spending time in these beautiful spaces that will now be totally yours not the previous owners💗

Beautiful! It's changed so much it's almost disorienting! At some point it would be really fun to see a before and after. Before, as in when you first found out the Hartley was actually happening but the gazebo and pines we're still there and then fading into what it looks like now.... Massive changes!!! It's incredible!
