Tipper, I’ve heard you speak of your hope for your late tomatoes a couple times and wanted to share our experience. We were expecting frost and our tomatoes were loaded with green ones. We picked them and wrapped each one in newspaper, then put in cardboard boxes. We put the tomatoes in the garage in a dark area. They ripened slowly and we had ripe tomatoes through December. I enjoy sharing your life and family. And I sure love digging in the dirt also.

This is almost exactly what I do! I pick 'em and put them in brown paper bags on my kitchen counter. They always ripen just fine, they're just a bit smaller than they would be if given full grow time on the vine. It does work!

Miss Tipper you have been such a lovely part of my life these last few months. I love seeing the updates on your garden, your popsicle times with Mr. Matt and it's really been great having your videos play while I'm working toward my degree. I don't have to focus on what you're doing so much as just enjoying hearing y'all talk because it takes me back to when I was younger hearing the general chatter of my own family. I'm not a religious lady at all but I love hearing Katie & Corie play and sing. Kinda throws my boyfriend for a loop because I'm a big metal head but sometimes he walks in to me listening to your girls singing hymns. All that to say thank you. I'm in a quarter final exam week and you've all been with me through it.

Fall! My fav. time of the year. I love the color changes, the cool breezes and I love turnip greens and turnips. Your channel is one of my favs. I really enjoy the vids you post. You make gardening look fun and easy and I KNOW it's hard work. It pays off in the winter. You mostly can, instead of freezing. Right? I always froze veggies. I'm disabled now but I enjoy watching your vids so much. Hope Matt brings home plenty of deer for this winter. 🦌Keep the vids coming. Can hardly wait for the next ones. God bless you and your family. ❤🍉

I planted beet seed September 4. They sprouted within 7 days and look healthy. Actually, I planted cabbage, carrots, mixed lettuce and kohlrabi the same day and all sprouted at the same time. I think they sprout better if the soil is warm, but mature at a cooler temp with a good dose of sunshine.

Thanks for this -- I'm inspired to MAYBE try a little patch of garden in my postage-stamp size backyard. We were INUNDATED by rain in July/ August, and I'm still SLOWLY getting the 6" grass & weeds mowed with my little 14" non-motorized reel mower, which is good exercise but right now I'm SORE from it! Stooping & bending is somewhat difficult for me, which makes me think I need to force myself to do more of it! Gardening should facilitate that! John Fisher Tarrant County, Texas

Thanx for sharing Tipper, I too hated de-vining my trellis areas. So one day I was running the weed eater and decided to try it on the dead bean stocks on the trellis areas. It took a few minutes to figure out the best angle, but once I figured it out, it cut all of the old bean stocks for the whole garden in a matter of minutes, amazing. Anything a person can do to make gardening easier will make the whole experience better.😃

I love all of your videos, thank you! I just came across your March 3, 2022 video on your three variations of your basic biscuit dough. One variation was baked hand pies. You mentioned that the chocolate filling had a gritty texture that some people might not like. I have a suggestion, instead of regular granulated sugar try confectioners/powdered sugar. It's regular sugar more finely ground & that should take the grittiness out of it. You will have to adjust your sugar measurements because if you use the same as you do for granulated it will be a lot sweeter. It will have a creamer texture.... 🥣

Enjoyed tagging along with you, watching you work your garden. You mentioned beets and I remembered how my Mom used to have to hoe some small elevated rows, and she'd sow the seeds on top , and then she'd take some old boards and lay them on top of the beets. If she didn't plant the beets like that, most of the seeds wouldn't germinate, so you might try that if you're sowing beets in rows instead of broadcasting. You probably already know this but I thought I'd throw it out there and might help. Keep up the good work!!!

I love turnips/mustard greens & love turnip roots. I’ll be tasting in my mind! I’ve enjoyed your pretty garden this year, too. BTW, I think you should plant more than 1row of corn, for the cross pollination. I’m not completely sure of that as I’ve never had enough room to plant it either. Maybe you should ask somebody else who knows better than I on that!!!

I had (unfortunately) several Yukon gold taters from the store produce large eyes on them. Probably old when they got to the store. So I'm going to try planting them this fall as whole seed potatoes to winter over and hopefully have spring taters!! We'll see! Sometimes these little experiments have a good outcome! Planted turnip seeds in a couple of #10 washtubs today. My 1st time trying turnips.

Love to garden, but can’t get around like I used to. Been in the mid 60’s here for over a week and in the low 50’s at night. Maples are starting to turn gold and orange. Even my burning bushes are starting to turn red. I hear we are going to get a warm spell starting Friday…supposed to be in the low 80’s for a little over a week and 60’s at night…so my green tomatoes should be ripening. I love fried green tomatoes , but normally don’t do them until end of the season…which will be here soon. ( I’m the only one that likes them, my husband doesn’t like them). Love your videos!

I always enjoy your garden tours. One of my favorite lines from the song "Happy Talk" in the movie South Pacific is "how are you going to have a dream come true if you don't have a dream". I hope yours come true. Dennis Morgan

I just love all your videos. It reminds me so much of growing up doing all those things. Doing them with my mom and all of us helping dad do all gardening brings back so many fond memories. My mom, dad, brother and sister are all dead now. I am the oldest child. My dad just passed in April and I feel so lost and alone. I miss all those good times. It didn't seem like work doing all those things. It was reaping what we sewed and was able to can, store and freeze all of our foods except meat. Y'all have became a part of my life giving me hope I have lost. God Bless you all.

Radishes are so good steamed. I steam them with broccoli and celery and put cheese when their tender. So very good . We like them with soup beans and fried taters and cornbread.

My former neighbor grew IO Chief sweet corn in the backyard of his house in a suburban development in Ohio, so you should be able to find room for a crop somewhere on your property. Much more useful, and tasty, than a lawn!

Tipper, your garden is the prettiest it's ever been...I'm not sure why but I think it's the organization of the beds that appeal to me. The garden represents hope, I think, and you are really producing a lot considering what you have to work with. Sometimes I come by your house, and no one is home, that'sthat

I guess there is always next year. My garden consisted of one volunteer tomato that the squirrels and rabbits let me keep. It's only about 8 inches high so I don't have much hope for a fruitful harvest from this one 😁

Too bad all the vegetables are not American. What will future generations do for a garden with the States filled with high-rise apartments, including the land once designated as public forests? I am glad that you are trying to hold on to your gardening, farming, and hunting.

Seems strangely sad to see you gardening alone and having your popsicle alone. Yall always do everything as a family is what I like most about your show. You have the garden looking nice for fall and I hope it does well. The anticipation of a newly planted garden is a very special feeling. Don't forget to leave a light on for the family coming home. Be well .

Those tiny cukes are called Cornichon by the French. They pickle nicely and are preferred by many.

We planted a fall garden but sadly I am realizing it may be too shaded right now…. Maybe the leaves falling will help. It’s like a race between the sun and frost.

Oh how I wish I could have planted a fall garden, but got to give our land and myself a rest. I’m excited to see all the bounty you will get.

You are lucky to be planting again. Where I live, a hard frost could happen any day now, and that will be that until the end of May!

It's nice that you have a longer growing season. Here, in Northern Indiana there's not a lot of plants that would make it thru our winters.
