Don’t forget to sharpen and oil your tools. A coating of paste wax on clean tools with reduce rust, nourish wood and look so good.

Great tips. Following the vinegar treatment with baking soda is a good idea since it acts as a mild abrasive while neutralizing the acid. You didn't say it but doing all of the potting soil work on a bench like you did makes it so much easier on the body.

Such a good idea about checking the viability of old seeds, but I think I will be doing this with new seeds, too. I have definitely had some bad experiences with those also.

Thanks, Jag! This encourages me for the upcoming gardening season. By the way, my kale and parsley are still growing in the garden here in 6B even though it's December!

@@DaisyCreekFarms I admit I've covered some of it on certain nights when it's teens to low 20s. But even the plants that didn't get covered are still alive.

What if you are concerned that your soil might have a fungus, virus, or weed seeds, is there a way to fix this type of medium? I thought of hydrogen peroxide or spraying the soil with a natural pesticide/fungicide and then adding extra fertilizers to make my soil viable for the next season. Do the seeds from 2023, need the seed test?

Hydrogen Peroxide will get rid of bacteria, virus, and fungus, only way to get rid of weed seeds is to add the soil to the compost that gets hot at 150F or 65C. There is no need to test seeds from 2023 if they were handled and stored properly and have not been sitting out in the sun.
