I live in the Manchester area in England and I grow cherries on my allotment, but I have found the best way to keep the birds off is to grow them inside a polytunnel and choose varieties on the dwarfing 'Gisela 5' rootstock. I have the old variety 'Early Rivers' raised in the Victorian period - it is a very large red cherry and very tasty, totally unlike anything you buy in the shops.

@FM-zs2fu3 жыл бұрын
A lot of cherry's are grown in the Young and Orange region of New South Wales too which can get to 42 degrees in summer so yes can handle the heat but they need the cold (at least down to 6-7 degrees) in winter to set fruit, which is why they do so well in those regions. Hope this helps you...☺️. (edit) as a foot note in saying you need to get down to at least 6-7 degrees, it needs most of your winter to be at or below this temp not just a few days here and there. Good luck ☺️
