QUESTION: just my thinking. If you plant a rose bush in the spring, the following year your supposed to prune it. Doesn’t pruning hurt the newly growing root system, forcing the rose bush to regrow. I would think that in the first few years your trying to build a good root system and pruning takes the energy away from the root system. Again just my thinking. ❄️💚🙃

I wish you would show more close up of your hand doing the pruning. You had a very brief shot like this and it would be so helpful. I heard to prune above a shoot or leaf that is pointed out.

Followed your advice I used that Rose snd Flower card last year on all my plants; it solved all my pest and disease issues. The Japanese battles didn’t devastate my garden and the fungus I normal get around August never came; plants were healthy and blooming until December. I’m in zone 8a Atlanta and I will be applying the BioAdvance at planting; some of the best advice I’ve gotten on KZbin; Thank you, Jenny! ❤

Love your videos and find them so informative. Since it’s difficult to see the plants against the backround this time of year just wondering if placing your pop up bag behind the plant would help give it enough contrast so we can better see what your explaining. It’s just a suggestion. You guys do a great job and love everything you do. We are expecting another foot of snow today so I am living through you at the moment. Gets me excited for our spring to show up even though it’s still a few months away.

I’m a new gardener and this is my first pruning season with my roses so this was extremely helpful! I noticed some swelling here in Chattanooga, but wasn’t sure if it was too early to prune quite yet. This weather has been confusing 🙃 Great video, as always!

Hi Jen, we love what you do and really enjoy your dog “Brenna” not sure of spelling. But today you lost us at 13:41 when Brenna dug something up behind you and starting eating it. She is a wonderful distraction and should you be doing something really technical we can always back the video up to get the content. Enjoy your site !!!!

Thank you for this video. I got a rise up lavender from my local nursery in November. It established well but never went dormant (I’m in zone 9); being so it’s still full of foliage. Should I strip the foliage off when I prune?

Hi Jenny, this is just a suggestion. Is there a way that you could incorporate a poster board as a backdrop when pruning your plants? The stems are camouflaged with the grasses and other vegetation and only upon close recording can we see what you've done. The stems were visible against your lilac top today, and that's what prompted me to write.

@@karenschrantz2307 Gorgeous flowers just not as much growth as Amberness, but that could have been due to me having too many annuals in the flowerbed. This year I’m going to be a minimalist in the rose garden 😉

Looking on your Amazon page for your rose gloves? Can't find them. Can you tell me where you purchased. your videos! We are in Denver NC. The Japanese beetles are definitely a problem. In recent years, they seem to prefer our canna lilies instead of the roses 🌹. Totally unexpected. 😀

I have an oil(mix of flowers that attract JBs) that I place on some cotton attached to a plastic bottle, cut and overturned to make a funnel. The funnel hangs over a bucket of water. The beetles get trapped and my chickens would get a sip and a snack! No attractant? A few cuttings of geranium hanging over the funnel will attract and paralyze them where they will drown or be eaten. If you don't have animals to eat the insects, you can use soapy water. Might not be the best method, but it works wonders for me!!

Should you prune even if it’s newly planted? Late fall last season or even this late winter??
@GardeningwithCreekside
@GardeningwithCreekside Жыл бұрын
Yes, unless it was pruned prior to planting. You still need it to push new growth and have a nice habit. You can still use the 1/3 ratio for pruning.
