I love Mimi’s garden, she has an amazing eye for what works. Love her yard art and the fact that you have such a wonderful relationship with her as does your kids. I grew up and built our home below my parents too, enjoy every moment.❤❤

I love Mimi's garden. It reminds me of my grandmother's garden. I loved exploring it as a child and am quite certain that's where my interest in gardening developed.

One of my favorite things in Mimi's garden is the Gazebo. It must be a heavenly place to sit when the Jasmine blooms.

My Great Granny's shade garden had the most beautiful camelia and azaleas. Such precious memories. I once asked where she found this huge pink azalea bush that was by her porch and she she said "On the side of the road." 😂 She just stopped and dug up a wild azalea. Loved her so much.

Thank you so much for this video. I garden in Vancouver, BC zone 8a, like you, though we don’t get the heat and humidity like the South. I have part shade/shade garden and have been struggling with finding a variety of winter interest things. We have a massive screen of cedars, but very little difference in form, texture, or blooms. I’m getting excited as I find new plants to help get me through the very dark, rainy winters that we have. Thanks so much!

I'm always inspired by Mimi's garden. So much the same look that we have in the NC Sandhills with pinestraw paths and randomly fallen on plants. 😊 Her garden shows a lovely, quiet place that is so inviting but not needing to be manicured/perfect. Merry Christmas, Mimi! 🎄

Thank you for this wonderful tour! Most of my backyard is in shade, so your mom’s garden gives me fantastic inspiration! I too have 40+ old timey azaleas in my garden. I also have Lenten roses, camillias, oak leaf hydrangeas and a variety of ferns!

I love the tours of Mimi’s garden. I have to tell you I bought 2 oak leaf hydrangeas from y’all this year and the leaves are gorgeous right now. I can’t wait to see if they bloom next year, but the real show for me is their leaf colors. Thank you for such great videos. Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family.

Question: what do folks do when there are tree roots everywhere making it hard to create a safe path(s) for walking in a wooded area? Thanks for this inspirational video!
@valhallamcgaughey37209 күн бұрын
I guess it depends on the purpose of the path. In the woods behind my grandmother’s, dirt paths are really skinny and wind through the trees. Whoever wants to walk back there just needs to watch their step. However, if you want a path that’s easier for everyone to use frequently, you can nail some boards into the ground on either side and put down tons of wood chips to raise the path above some of the roots. That will require way more maintenance. You don’t want to cut the roots unless you plan to take out the whole tree. I suppose if it needs to be handicap safe (and you have tons of money), you could build a low boardwalk over the roots.

This forest has many strange trees, I have never seen them before.
