I am from central NY. and we get snow. When I was in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. for 3 years we got a couple inches of snow and I did laugh. There was a pickup truck with 2 guys in the bed with shovels salting the main drag of the city. This is just what I've been waiting for, too bad the guys didn't mic up. You were talking of married 15 - 20 yrs. Ann and I have been married 36yrs. this Dec. and it just gets better with age. You talked of gardening as you get older, well I'm 55 and didn't get really gardening until 3 yrs. ago, and I am so excited about it all. This year I planted our retirement orchard with 28 fruit trees. Age slows you down but the love of gardening is still there.

Such a great video! I decided to grow dahlias after seeing your success last year. I planted calendula in-between the plants after I noticed the earwig pressure and ta-da! I actually planted them as a "trap crop" but they brought in hoverflies, ladybugs, and other great beneficials and saved my dahlias this year! I don't use any type of insecticide as the whole point of my garden is the bees. I grew up in the south and know all about that red clay! My grandmothers used cardboard under their vine crops to keep the red at bay. Atlanta Georgia suffered an ice storm in 1973 (I was 13) that shut us down! That was a crazy time! Thank you for sharing your lives and this sit-down chat! 💗

@@GardeningwithCreekside I had a local gardener here in Tennessee who writes gardening blogs etc. tell me that Calendula would not do well in our heat and humidity. I'd like to try that between the dahlias. I do get earwigs some, not a crazy amount, but I also get white flies pretty bad and sometimes slugs but I use a feed and treat for the slugs that works wonders! Thank you ladies for doing this video. Loved it! Been watching Laura and Aaron for over a year and started watching Gardening with Creekside when Laura mentioned you garden in my zone! Woohoo.

I enjoyed this conversation, especially since I have followed both of you for a while. What I don’t understand is why you keep saying Laura is a Southerner at heart because of her hospitality. I am from Wisconsin and have often traveled to the south and I don’t see a difference. People are welcoming, friendly and we like those from the south, we enjoy our visitors and go out of our way to make them feel at home. It’s easy to meet new people and strike up a conversation. Come north more often, we welcome you with open arms.

I love watching you two. Gardening is work and help is needed. Reality needs to be shared just like we need inspiration. You both inspire. Our soil doesn’t respond the same to the auger but I still use one.

This video made so happy, two of my most favorite gardening ladies in a nice sit down conversation, how beautiful of an experience, this could have been 3-4 hours long love and I would have watched every second. Thanks ladies! ❤️

you are my favorite gardeners. I have learned so much from each of you. I love the way you do things with your mothers. My mother and my grandmother and my aunts have been my mentors. Now that they are gone, you have taken their place.

I so love your visit. I grew up in Arkansas and now live in Washington in the desert part of the state. The climate is so different here than in Arkansas. No humidity here !So different. This year was my first year of really growing daliah’s as a friend also gave me a box and I fell in love with them. I will probably grow them from now on. I hope that you enjoyed them. I enjoyed your trip out here. I am grateful that you and Laura shared your visit with us. It brings such joy and puts a smile on my face. Hope you have a wonderful trip and a good trip back. I look forward to seeing your next video.
